Getting some play money and need help deciding. I don't want to spend over 130. Looking at A)Delica & Sharpmaker ($58+64) or a Military ($117-130). Any other ideas?

You can't go wrong with either of those choices, but without knowing what you have now it's hard to make a recommendation.

If you don't have a good sharpening system then go with the Delica/Sharpmaker. If you already have a good sharpener and a collection of good quality 3" folders then maybe you should consider the Military. Let us know what you decide.

Sound advice. Especially if the knife will be your first Spydie, you really can't go wrong with a Delica.

I'd get the sharpmaker and delica. You need a sharpening system first before you buy any knives imo. I didn't buy any knives a long time because of not having a sharpening system. Now that I've bought the sharpmaker, I feel comfortable to continue my collection.

You could always get a cheaper lansky crock stick box-usually $10-and have enough for a military. I used the lansky turn box kit for months to sharpen my folding knives and it did a pretty good job with VG-10 and S30V.

I agree>> there is a reason that the Delica and Endura both have been flagship models for so many years. Now if you could snag one of those G-10 handled Enduras or one of them with ZDP-189 blade steel you would be taking a giant leap forward to new levels in the Spyder Kingdom.

The Native model is also a great first Spyder. The Rookie would also be a great choice for a first Spyder. But there isn't anything wrong with the Delica either.
