Just got my new baby in the mail about an hour ago. Another gift from Allen .
Overall 9/10:
was nice to handle instore, it's a blast to handle your own. I just have to wait for eric to catch up, and then pry it from my hands for a neck rig... have a feeling it'll replace the ss 'fly as neck carry 24/7. open spine, vg-10, and all screw cons = easy feild strip or washing under a tap.
Blade/Edge [10/10]:
seems thinner than the ats-55 at the spine, and the serrations are a lot sharper(could be from steel and/or thinner spine). I like the change at the tip from the ats-55, with the tip in a smooth arc, rather than a curve from the S. Shaves arm hair with factory edge and this is a serrated one too.
Handle/Clip [8/10]:
bit thin, side to side. I'll probably get used to this in the next few weeks of playing. Seems to have a choil formed into it a bit. One thing I don't like is the clip being further back from centre, more like first 1/3. I can see filework getting done on the spine side of the handle, after I do a few cheapies first. Also begs to get laser engraving.
Lockup/movement [9/10]:
Played for an hour now, got the lock set more to centre. Lockup was rock solid out of box. Bit stiff, but thats partially to blame on my fingers not being used to *thin* knives. Oil and knifesturbate tonight, should get it silky smooth. Can't drop open yet(haven't tweaked lock yet either though).
Fit/Finish [8/10]:
Don't like the raised heads on the screws. means I can't just slap the 1/8" CF scale material I have on it. Think I'll mirror polish the scales on this one, but I'll hold off for now, until I get a neck rig for it and see if it scratches/rubs the satin finish like it does mirror(on my 'fly).
Weight [10/10]:
surprising. I like the amount of heft it has for the size.
