I picked up a copy of The Spyderco Story.
I had originally thought the price was a little (well, to be honest A LOT) on the high side.
I spent two hours reading the book!
One of the many aspects that I particularly liked was each model was described in detail and Sal's thoughts on his designs were eloquently presented.
The book presented the Spyderco collaborations and how they came about. It presented each knifemaker's ideas on what they wanted their knife to look like and how they wanted them to perform.
There is a chapter on Sal's and Spyderco's "corporate" philosophie/s.
Several things come across in the Spyderco Story. One is obvious to the fans of Spyderco products and to forum members - the integrity of Sal Glesser. Not "just" in words as is so commonplace today. And NOT just to making a bucket of money. But, in his commitment to the products, the satisfaction of the consumer, AND to Spyderco employees.
The other obvious point is his hard work and ingenuity in advancing the knife industry and benefiting it's end users.

READ THIS BOOK!!

Thanks Mr. Glesser

I've had more paper cuts than cuts from knives, but the knives are QUICKLY gaining!

I don't think a day has gone by since I got my copy that I haven't picked it up and read it. You are my hero Sal. Great book and great knives. Keep up the good work.

All Spyderfans should have one Spyderbook.

It's a chance to read all that information...

You will learn how a frog (Oooooh yes!) was the real inventor of the Clip !!

This is much more than a book it's also all a philosophy .
You will come back to it and read it again and again.

Some even will drill a hole inside the cover for fast opening.

cheers,
JM

Maybe Spyderco can post a copy on it's website and we could download it. Think Mettalica would mind ?

Metalica wouldn't mind, but Spyderco might be annoyed. :-)

Besides, that much text and pictures at screen quality ... Sometimes old fashioned paper is best.

This is a great book. After reading about the Spyderco Management philosophy, I was temporarily dissatisfied with my workplace. Spyderco sounds like a great company. Of course, we know the knives are great!

Good book. Get it if you haven't.

After a quick browse, its no wonder why all that praise! KUDOS Sal! I personally find the management philosophy greatly inspiring. Err, BTW, how many shots did it take to get the "Samurai hair shaving test" done? Really awesome committment.

Like the rest of the guys, I agree that every spydernut should own this book as a point of reference!
