I've read some past posts about this knife, just looking for more info. How comfortable is this knife? Too big? How about that notch at the end of the handle? Is that a weak spot? Would you pry with it if you had to, and would it stand up? Easy to carry?

I would not say it is too big. Too big for what would be the question. Most people like IWB with these I think, but vertical on the belt works for me. It is very lightweight, lighter than some of my smaller knives (less than half as much as a buck 110). (Note: you can't carry it IWB right out of the box) I would not use this to pry, but then again I would not use pretty much any of my knives to pry. The point looks a little delicate for prying. It is also very sharp and a good cutter. I would recommend it.

Hi..

Simply it's an awesome knife...

If fact my Fav out of all Spyderco's fixed blades...
It's a fighter,,not a prybar

You won't be sorry...

It's the MOST comfortable knife I've ever handled.

DO NOT pry with it, it's not meant for that (it's a knife).

GET IT, NOW!!!

I have both the Perrin Street Bowie and the Temperance. Of the two I like the Street Bowie much better, owing to the very comfortable handle. The rubber covering on the handle is soft on the Street Bowie, while the Temperance has a hard plastic handle. Both were designed as tactical knives, but I think the Street Bowie has a more secure, non-slip handle.

I do think a double finger choil would have been better, but the Street Bowie's grip is still very secure.

I also like that the handle is black and does not show silver steel when wearing it IWB and it's sheathed. Is this a full tang knife?

YES, good point. I hadn't considered that, but it is a great advantage.

I believe that Sal said that it is about a 2/3's tang if I recall correctly...

I would love to have one.... but it is too big to legally carry here in Tennessee. I would like to see them make a smaller version with a 3.95" blade for those of use limited by law.

- definitely a cutter, not meant for prying
- VERY comfortable and secure grip
- lightweight
- blade is 5" long, which is not too long in my book (but your local laws may think differently), and because of the design it handles very well, it's agile & useful & wicked fast
- it is not a full tang, but when it was released Fred Perrin stated in a thread that, if you manage to snap the tang (and I'm assuming he meant in normal use, not prying up manhole covers) he will magically appear and french kiss you for two minutes. Not really sure if that's intended as a prize or a punishment . . .
- this is an AWESOME knife, one of my favorites ever.

edited to add: Fred makes a smaller version himself, forged w/micarta handles, if 5" is too long. Someone just posted about this knife recently, either here or in the gallery.

If you're speaking about the Fred PERRIN Spyderco Bowie, believe me, GO FOR IT!!!
The feeling in hand is just great, VG 10 steel, no comment :D the sheath is great and the all package conceal perfectly! And it's very SHARP!!!!!
It's now available in black!!! I just love this knife...

Definitely a GO!! my favorite fixed blade!
It's not a full tang in fact, it has been quiet a challenge for Fred Perrin to keep it lightweight and balanced without impacting performance.
Now, Fred has released a scimitar bowie blade that is full tang, but it's much more radical solution, don't look after a comfortable sweety blade with this one, it's hardcore! ;)

funny i also just thought of getting one.
seems to be a great kitchen knife.
that´s where most of my battles are fought
against lamb legs, shark steaks, etc;)
