Spyderco Street Beat vs The real deal?

Hi everyone,

In the last week or two, I've been looking for a new folder to carry around and abuse. Not abuse for the sake of abusing, but I tend to use knives as hammers, screwdrivers, pry bars, toothpicks, etc...

I was asking about a folder, but my situation has changed, I'll be moving out of California, and I can finally carry a fixed blade again.

I really like Spyderco Street Beat, but upon doing a little bit of research on the knifes designer, Fred Perrin, I found that I can buy a Perrin Military PPF also. The main differences are that the former is VG-10 and have a 3.5 inch blade, wheres as the PPF is 1075 and has a 4.5 inch blade.

I would have to include that I REALLY dig the blued blade and what I believe is bone for scales on the PPF, but is it as practical as the Street Beat?

Not that it matters anymore, but you can carry a fixed blade in a sheath on your waist legally in Cali.

As long as it wasn't underneath my shirt, but I always have my shirt untucked, which would have made it a concealed fixed blade. An exposed fixed blade would only get me in trouble.
