I'm in love.

What a great knife!!

It carries great, cuts like a banshee and the steel...I seriously like this stuff.

Takes a wicked edge, holds it well, and touches up easily.

I may be late to the party, but I got this one for Christmas and I like it.

I''ve been carrying it for a few days and using it, and am very pleased.

got 2 of them myself. great steel reminds me of m4, but with the clad setup has better corrosion resistance. congrats on yours, enjoy 'er.

I'm glad you like yours Coonskinner. I was wondering how you would like it. I thought you would as you are pretty experienced and knives like these are best appreciated by people like you that actually have experience with knives and already know what they need and want in a knife. HAP 40 really likes taking sharp, slicey edges and does a pretty good job keeping it.

If you get a chance I'd recommend Cruwear, 3V and 4V as well. I've had really great experiences with all of the above. For me, if a knife steel doesn't like getting sharp I tend to lose interest. With so many great choices around there is no real excuse for me to not carry something I like. Some discount 3V for folders because it's a tough steel. That does not keep it from taking and holding great edges so it's right up my alley. Likewise Cruwear/PD#1/Z wear and 4V/Vandis 4E. All these are right in the sweet spot for knives that I carry daily.

I agree with Joe. Hap40 is a great steel and so is Cruwear. In my experience they respond similarly to sharpening and take a very sharp and aggressive edge with minimal work. Hap40 has shown a bit better edge retention in my use. I would imagine cruwear has higher toughness but I haven't had any issues with hap40 in that regard. For my EDC type use Hap40 is about the best steel I have used.

Decked out my user HAP40 Stretch with Nishijin scales from a 'Seconds Sale' Stretch that I got for Christmas from my lovely Wife :D

It certainly has more heft to it; absolutely love this steel offering from the 'Makers'!

I haven't carried this one long enough to make any real well tested claims, but my initial impression is that this is the best steel for an edc I have ever used.
