just recently acquired a spyderco stretch. i love vg10 and the ergos/feel of the frn grip. its blade shape was very much like my sheepsfoot griptilian which is my preferred daily carry. however, it was .2oz heavier than my griptilian and about the same shape and size. because of this i rarely carried it over the griptilian and i wanted to spice things up a bit. i ended up deciding to wave it and spent the last 2 hours working on it :D. i think it turned out very well and the wave opens up beers better than my waved delica lol... what do you guys think? anybody else care to share their spyderco wave modifications? it would be great to see what others have done :)

oh and i understand that the structural integrity of the blade has been compromised some... im curious on how strong it is now? only time will tell i guess. im sure itll be fine for daily carry and tearing down cardboard boxes at the office though lol

sweet mod. That exact knife was in my pocket tonight

My FS Manix 2 has been a platform for some mods already, so it doesn't really have much trade value anymore.

I think I know what the next mod is going to be!

Good job! I don't know how much that would have affected the blade's structural integrity. I would imagine very little, if at all. The only part that I can imagine being weakened is the wave itself, and you're not going to break it off unless you really try. I've waved a Kershaw Talon and a couple Boker Sub's, but none of my Spydies yet. Might need to get another Tenacious just for that...

Honestly I don't like the looks of it that way despite its functionality. Rather than having something permanently removed from the knife...I think a high quality aftermarket steel clamped-on part (looking like the ones on the Emersons but with a way of clamping it on) enabling wave would be better and could be removed anytime if desired. It could also be mass-produced and fit more than one knife. But maybe I'm just dreaming.

The hook you've created for tip up carry now looks 'catchy'.

needed to be catchy for it to wave effectively lol... thats the thing about waved knives, you either love them or hate them. so far it hasnt snagged on anything other than my pants pockets during opening.

i did the ziptie wave mod for a while on a few of my spydercos but hated it as it would get in the way of my thumb at times and waved just as well as my cs mini ak lol :thumbdn: i understand the preference to a clamp on part like the clamp on thumbstuds for buck 110's :) it would be pretty cool to see somebody pull that off while looking classy.

That looks like you made a bottle opener on the back of the blade.:)

That looks great. I like the look of the blade much better now. I never liked the appearance of the stretch because how much the blade sloped up just for the hole. To me that is better looking and 3 times more functional. I doubt for edc purposes the part you machined out will effect blade strength. Great job!

That thumb drive idea is quite neat however I would be nervose of damage to important files.

thats exactly what i did lol... i purposely ground it down so it would function as a wave AND open beers effectively :D

Works great on my Mini Bone Collector

Edit: I saw someone already mentioned these but I'll leave it up for the sake of the picture.
