Spyderco Stretch vs. Para Military

Have decided I "need" a new folder. Looking at Stretch and Paramilitary. I just cut food and mess around with wood, no animal skinning. Any thoughts on pros/cons for outdoors use? One more data point, I have a well used Delica 4. Thanks!

I like both. The para seems stronger to me. I like the blade shape of the stretch better. Do what I did, and get both!

I've used the Para outdoors quite a bit. I think it is a great knife. Sturdy lock, practical blade shape, holds a keen edge, comfortable to hold in a variety of grips, and really easy to clean out.

Both models are my favorites, Its a tough decision.
If you would like a wee bit more blade, 3.5" then the Stretch would be the one. Some day you'll own both ;) and that's a good thing.:D

I have both. The para is an excellent knife but my all time favorite blade is without a doubt the Stretch 2.

I have used them for outdoors activities like hunting, camping, fishing, as well as food prep and general cutting tasks. The blade shape and its inherent versatility are what put the Stretch 2 in a separate category.

Cheers, Shane

both great, personally I like the Para.... Easy to clean, and man it looks sweet in Foliage and D2.

I only carry SAKs now, but ive really been eyen' me an Emerson A100. I loved the one I had, great blade.

However a Para is one of my all time favorite folders, and my favorite Spydie. My buddy EDCs a Stretch and loves it Hes had it for a few years now.

Paramilitary leans more on the sturdy, tanklike side. Stretch2 is thinner and better suited for slicing. There is better tip control with the Paramilitary, and the blade shape is overall very well suited towards just about anything. The Stretch2 is more comfortable to hold and very enjoyable to use as an overall package. Get both.

The Stretch 1 is easily distinguishable. It has a stainless handle with kraton inserts. I hear it's pretty nice also.

The Para will be easier to clean.
Also, blade stock is thicker, but not too thick; which is a good think in woods use.

Ok, took you all's advice and snagged a ZDP stretch on the exchange. Damn that's sharp! Seems like it will be a hell of a slicer as promised. Only downside I see is that it's ever so slightly bigger than I need in a folder.

Now... where's that para I was looking for?
