How do these two knives compare? They are both compression lock knives with G10 scales and a leaf shaped blade, and I'm stuck between the two. I was hoping one of you fine ladies or gents could shed some light on them?
The Superleaf uses mega-thick 4mm blade-stock (and 2 oz heavier) where as the Junior uses 3mm (which ain't thin by any means). I love my Superleaf, but honestly have considered the Junior several times (still might pick one up).
Both use VG10 and both sport a wire-clip. The Junior has a way slimmer profile when closed (that's honestly my only complaint with my Superleaf - with the extra flare at the pinky and behind the thumb-ramp, it takes up way more space than it needs to when closed).
I'd say if you have huge hands, go with the Superleaf. Otherwise, either will work fine.
They are really different beasts. The Junior is much smaller and lighter - and better suited to EDC. The SuperLeaf, while I really like this blade, is a huge hunk of knife. It doesn't carry as nicely in the pocket as other knives in its class (e.g., Millie, Para2, Manix).
I don't have a Superleaf, but I bought a Junior basically on Day 1 and have been EDC'ing it ever since. Prior to it, I was in love with my Para2 for EDC, but after just a week with the Junior I knew that the Para2 was out.
The reason I mention this is because of several of the reasons others have listed about the Superleaf. The Para2 isn't particularly large or heavy, but when you see just what the Junior is capable of even with the thin sleek profile, I saw no need for the Para 2 in my EDC. Granted, I'm a tech-guy/PM by day and DIY home maintenance guy at night, so my EDC needs are pretty light (and the "right" tool is usually within reach), YMMV.
In several places, I've mentioned making a larger version of the knife, but it is not because of any performance issues I have with the current version; I just want to see tweaks on the design and justify another purchase.
