well i plan on buying my first spyderco and its going to be the szabo. i like the big size, gold and CF top layer, and the wild blade shape i also found it for $176 on gpknives (if you know any sites i can get it cheaper i would be much obliged) . now by no means is it going to be a beater/user type knife i have a benchmade 275 for that but since this will also be my first S30V knife i would like to ask how is the S30V blade performs and if stropping is a good option for sharpening it since i dont own those $300 sharpening systems. i would also appreciate any opinions and testimonials/reviews of the knife itself .

Thank you very much.

i don't have an answer to your question, but I can tell you that this is a very well executed knife and at $176 I doubt you can find a cooler knife at the price.
I've been fondling with mine since I got it, and it has broken in very well.

anyone else have thoughts - testimonials - opinions of the szabo

Try to handle it first before getting it , mine came with the internal stop pin rubbing against the liners
making it very stiff to open , I have been holding it handle in one hand blade in the other and wiggling
back and fourth a few thousand times , and it´s still a bit stiff , but it´s better now of course .

The lock sticks a bit when I open it with a little force , no biggie.

Now for the good , this is a knife that could be a good candidate for the only folder you ever gonna need , and thats pretty
darn good. :D

living here in jersey quality knife dealers are slim pickings and the law has a tight butthole for knives like NYC

I will check it out but I doubt I will find a seller that carries the szabo
( i called a handful of places and none carry the szabo and some didnt have any at all )

the only reason I trust it will break in is nutsforknives " SZABO OPEN AND CLOSE " video

His is much smoother than mine after all the wiggling I have done ,
a spydie drop with mine results with a half open.

that's why i am going to get it. cool factor the thick blade the wild handles the fact that i can attach a sip tie and have a brutal wave blade. plus i can also shove it in my cousins face and have him jealous of my super sweet pocket knife

ulize is nice but the black g10 is a deal killer for me. at least the szabo has the CF top layer . I am starting to get tired of black g10 . not all g10 but black is not a option

I like my big folders. I carry small knives these days, but I know where the big ones are, for when I spend more time outside again. I like your thinking on the Szabo! :D

Besides, I have his big butterfly knife, which also has a massive scimitar blade, the one the Spyderfly was modeled on. I need a companion to it!

I feel bad for my cuz in NYC . yeah jersey has crap knife laws but its easier to get away with here plus the fact that I very rarely clip my knife helps . it started that after a guy gave me a weird eye when he saw the very noticeable CS AK47 butt clipped in my pocket . plus I also feel its easier to wave when it's not clipped
