Spyderco Tattoo?

I'm seriously thinking about getting a tattoo of the Spyderco bug. Maybe leave it as it, and maybe make the legs pointy; not sure. Anyway, I'd like some opinions and maybe some artistic representations of such an idea.

I'm especially interested in what Sal or Kristi have to say :)

When you get tired of a manufacturer's logo on your t-shirt or hat you just take it off or change it for the latest flavour of the month. Getting a logo tattoo is bit extreme IMO.

I should've said this earlier, but I have many tattoos already (there are a few threads here with my ink in them). I stopped counting at twenty. I've owned Spyderco knives for a long time, and I've thought about either the "bug" logo or the Victorinox shield as a tattoo for a while as well. I haven't gotten any tattoo because it looked cool.

As anti-logo as I am, I still think about getting the "bug" somewhere. Maybe an Endura or Delica tattooed on myself would seem more sensible, I don't know.

I appreciate your opinion, Wally. I'm open to further ideas and thoughts

ok, here's another idea: sal riding in a chariot pulled by a team of bugs.

I think it's cool!

I mean, I wouldn't put Microsoft or Wal-Mart down, but Spyderco is a great company, whose values/philosophy are great.

I don't have one, but have been considering getting an "M-Dot":

It's the logo of the company that puts on Ironman...a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile run......a grueling but awesome day :)

I love Spydercos. I really and truly do. I love everything about the company. I'm proud that I bought their products when they first hit the market, and have continued to buy their knives as they have come out with new designs, and as their old designs have improved. They are, without a doubt, my #1 favorite all time knife company (with Victorinox coming in a close second).

But the "spyder" symbol looks more like a tick than it does a spider. I think it's a terrible design. But Spydercos are such good knives, I have no problem overlooking that one flaw in Spyderco artistic design.

But I would never get a tattoo of that design.

victorinox shield?? i guess you like soft steel, huh? How 'bout a Benchmade Butterfly? Much better IMO although still silly.

You should get it! I would make it just like the logo. Have it crawling out of a hole! Get creative!

I think ear would be a good place :D

Hi JNieporte,

We've seen a number of customers with some type of Spyderco tatoo. While they always look very nice, and certainly we are honored, tatoo's are a permanent mark on your body.

While we would hope that your interest in Spyderco products would be life long, It is also possible that time may change your interests.

Thanks for the reply, Sal.

I've decided not to get the "bug" on me; instead, I'll be getting an Endura FRN tattoo. I'm still hammering out the details (2nd generation pocket clip with the Phillips-head bolt or Endura 4 style, whether to include blade markings, etc.) but that's what I'm getting. Thanks all.

That sounds cool. I hope you post pictures.

Nice opinion Sal!

I remember the Microsoft Zune tattoo guy that latter changed his mp3 player to an iPod. Sad story

Tattoos are an individual thing.. I prefer the more classic stuff to gimicy things. Case in point.. my buddy has a tattoo of "Dewy Duck holding a mug of beer between his legs" and it takes up his entire calf. Even he regrets getting it.. but it's there for the long haul.

Haha! Omg - that one had me rollin on the floor for a while!:D

I think getting an Endura tat would be super cool, afterall, it is a timeless design.

If for some reason I decided to get a Spyderco tat, I would get fully serrated Millie on my forehead...
:jerkit:
