Does anyone here have experience with camping\rough use of their Temperance 2 ? Can it stand up to battoning, or is it more of a deer scalpel ? It's a sweet knife but maybe not suited for my intentions. Dunno......

No experience with the T2 buddy. It is still made of VG10 and the blade does thin out quite a bit so I would be a little concerned of it chipping out if battoning through hard woods.
If you really like that blade shape but want a different steel I'd take a look at Dave Farmer knives or take advantage of Bryan Breeden's current low prices and get him to make you a custom up to your specs based on that design.

This guy makes some which also remind me of the Temperance, not sure if he works with any other steels !
