I was just playing with my original Spyderco Temperance fixed blade. Anyone else think this a great knife? The blade shape is very versatile, and it cuts like crazy. The handle isn't going to win awards for beauty, but it works well in different grips and is very fast to draw and index.

I'd love to see a sprint run in 3V - would be able to handle everything a general utility knife should (barring the ridiculous, like prying open tanks). Would be the fixed blade equivalent of the Manix lightweight s110v - maximum performance for weight and cost.

For those that don't know what it looks like - here's a photo review of the original Temperance.

Hi Brummie,

Don't know if there is enough market demand for an entire run (1200 pieces). The "2" version is thinner in the handle and canvas micarta bead blasted. The 2 major complaints on the original were; too thick in the handle, too slippery when wet and "don't like the plastic".

Well, I'd buy one, so you only have to worry about selling another 1199 ;)

I'm surprised at that feedback - my hand are medium, but I don't find the handle too thick and it locks in well. And yes, micarta is better looking than plastic, but plastic has advantages in terms of weight and price. As with the manix s110v (or the Busse basic series), I think there's interest in knives which provide an economic combination of supersteels and budget, but practical handle materials. An upgrade to 3V would mean you could still have a slicing geommetry, whilst not having to worry about babying the edge.

You have far better sense of the demand out there than I, but I'd be interested to hear if others thought this might be desireable.

Anyway, many thanks for the fast response - part of what makes spyderco special.
