Okay so I just bought a Spyderco Tenacious yesterday and and just recieved my Byrd Cara Cara 2 today...and one thing I'd like to say is, GREAT JOB Spyderco!

I mean I know a lot of people already know this but...what a great value for the money. $35 for the tenacious and $25 for the cara cara?...that's a pretty sweet deal...
No blade play on both.
Fit and finish are fine (although I do have something to say about the cara cara on this one)
Grinds are fine
Great aesthetics
Shaving sharp out of the box
Smooth opening/closing
and tight construction (no loose screws or stripped screws)
The only thing I'm kind of "meh" about these knives is the steel: 8cr13mov. But whatever, I mean they're cheap knives anyways...and besides these are going to be my beater knives ;)

I'll be including the tenacious in my EDC rotation, not so much the cara cara...BUT that's only because of size. The Cara cara a bit too long for me to carry at work...Don't want to be scaring off people and making problems.

Anyhow, These guys should hold me off until I get my Para 2 in the mail! :D:D

I do like the blade shape better on the cara cara though...I wish they had made the tenacious the same shape.

and here they are along with my main EDC: Delica 4

And here's that one thing about the cara cara...on one side of the knife, there are some spots on the g10...I dont know if it's glue or whatever but I tried washing it off but i can't. Anyways, it doesn't really affect performance for that matter so not a big deal to me.

You're Correct About Them Being A Great Value.
And They Are Seriously The Best $30 Knives Out There IMO.
Spyderco Really Gave Other Knife Companies A Run For Their Money When They Did The Tenacious And Byrd Lines.
And This Is Coming From Someone That Owns Quite A Few Higher Value Knives.
My Persistence Is My Beater Knife And Holds Up To Anything I Put It Through.
8cr13mov Steel Is NOT A Bad Steel It's Actually Really Good Especially For The Price Point.
Holds A Nice Edge, Gets Scary Sharp, Is Pretty Wear Resistant, And Is Easy To Sharpen.
That And It's At Such A Good Price That The People Who Are Afraid To Use Their More Expensive Knives Are NOT Afraid To Use It.

I have the Persistence but recently got the black Tenacious and you can't go wrong with any knife in the Spyderco value line. Very underrated.

Damn, that black blade Tenacious looks great but I'm just afraid that it'd rub off and look like crap in a week...LOL.

Spyderco really outdid themselves with the 8Cr13MoV knives. It's not a bad steel at all; very "user-friendly" if you wanna put it that way. Will suit most people's needs/wants just fine. These knives are a great way to start a Spyderco addiction for new knife owners.

That black does look good :) it's just it might wear off after some use...

anyways, you guys are right though. these knives are a great way for someone new to start a spyderco addiction...for me it was the Delica...and now I've got like 2 more spyderco knives (paramilitary 2 & Stretch) on the way lol.. :D

I've always thought the imported spydercos were a great value and love Byrds but with that being said I think that the Byrds kinda live in the shadow of the imported Spydercos like the persistence and tenacious.

These are two of my favorite EDC knives. I sold my G-10 Cara Cara 2 a few weeks ago and ended up buying another one just the other day because I missed it! I also was able to pick up the new black blade tenacious at the same time for a great price, so both are now back into my rotation! For the price these knives are hard to beat. Fit and Finish has always been superb on the one's I own and I am looking forward to the blue G-10 exclusive tenacious that should be arriving soon!

I have both. The Tenacious is fine no problems or adverse comments. The Cara Cara 2 is great too but I have only one minor dislike; the grind is a bit too thick from the factory. A little re-profiling and it's a great back-up knife at its price point.

Byrd gen 2 knives are superb!!!Like them better than Tenacious!Cara cara2 with g10 or even frn with liners are both excellent knives probably best for money!New frn gen 2 cara cara is almost same like ffg endura, just different blade steel. But for price you cant go wrong.

I just got my Tenacious in the mail today and I am quite impressed. It came it way better condition than my Buck Vantage Select and that was USA made.

I agree that the byrd line is being over shadowed by the tenacious, persistence, etc line. It seems like there's just more people that have them... Both are great knives tho! As for me I've been playing around with the cara cara than the tenacious!

I'm trying to force myself to carry it and that it's not really "that big"...My para 2 should arrive tommorow and if I'm going to be carrying that, I might as well be able to carry the cara cara since they both have identical specs!
