I received these knives as part of the passaround going on right now, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with both of them. Here are my impressions.
Tenacious:
The tenacious is the first round-hole spyderco made in mainland china. Because it's made in china everyone wants to know about build quality. build quality is excellent, at the same level as the seki made spydercos. The knife opens smoothly and locks securely. There's no play in the bade, and the detent holds it shut until you want to open it. The only problems are a few minor cosmetic issues. The G10 doesn't quite line up with the liners in a few places. You would never notice it if you weren't looking for it.
as far as the design goes, it seems really well thought out. It's comfortable in your hand, and the open design makes it easy to clean out. The full flat grind also makes it a good slicer.
the only thing I don't like is the size. Not the length of the blade, but the width of the blade, and therefore the handle. Combine that with the fact that the liners aren't nested make the knife feel beefy and fill the hand well. But I like to carry in my back pocket, and I can feel it there all day. I prefer thin and slim for an EDC knife, and the tenacious isn't that. If you don't mind that then it's a great design.
Spin:
I really loved the spin. I think it's just a perfect little keychain knife. It's comfortable to hold, and the blade shape is really handy. I even think it looks great, kind of weird and beautiful, like a little piece of industrial art. I'm really thinking of picking one up.
anyway, here's some eye candy
