Spyderco Tenacious, drifter or Sanrenmu

From what I've seen from REVIEWS (I haven't handled any of them yet), which is better, the tenacious, the CRKT drifter, or a sanrenmu knife (for example the 710).

Politics aside, each knife sports the 8cr13MoV steel, but which knife has a better heat treat/quality?

And, is a tenacious REALLY worth 3 sanrenmu knives?

The Tenacious is worth every penny and then some. Is it worth 3x Sanrenmus? Nope, but I still prefer it over my 3 710s and Navy that I own. Honestly there is nothing that beats an $8 Sanrenmu in terms of pure monetary value. Good thing thats not the only thing I look for in a knife. I prefer my Sebenza, SNG, Spydercos, Kershaws, and Benchmades over Sanrenmus any day.

i like my tenacious, i cant speak to the sanrenmus , i like allot of what crkt makes, i think there a high value for what you pay.

speaking for the tenacious, its a winner. its a strongly built folder, opens smooth , has a strong looking liner lock. good jimping, g-10 scales with some decent grip to them. i think its got good ergonomics , fits in my hand well. yea i definatly recommend it for a knife in the -$40 range. the persistance is just as nice with a bit shorter blade and i prefer it to the tenacious because it feels lighter though i dont think it is by much.

+1 I just bought a persistence last week and it is an awesome knife for the money. Very happy with the quality for the price, it's a perfect size edc knife...I am waiting for the ambitious to come out in the next couple months...It's slightly smaller than the persistence.

+1 Tenacious. I also have the CRKT Drifter, but the Tenacious is a better knife.

I say the Tenacious. It is a great knife for the cash and you will have an outstanding company to back you up if something is wrong.

I've got a bunch of Sanrenmus and you cannot beat them at less than $10. I would suggest that you try the 710 or one of the 908/other 9**'s.

Alternatively, for just a couple bucks more, you could pickup a Bee L05/L06. Those two are equal in quality to the tenacious, but less than half the price (but without any warranty).

The heat treatment seems to be about the same on all these knives in 8cr13mov. It is easy to put a shaving sharp edge on them, then they will hold a good working edge for a while.

I have no experience with the Drifted, so no comment there.

I have sanrenmu & old crkt pointguard (aus 6). not having tenacious, can't comment.

However: for the money, sanrenmu is great (8 $) but if I can; I'll go with tenacious. From reading on this forum, Spyderco QC is very high, even if the knife is made in China.

I urge you to also check out the Tenacious' sister: the recent Byrd Cara Cara G10 with FFG blade. A super sturdy backlock knife with great ergonomics.
I have both and I actually slightly prefer the Cara Cara.

710 and Tenacious are very very different knives. Both have their merits.

You can, however, get a 710 for between $10-15 shipped. There is not a better value in a knife on this or any other planet for that price.

Spyderco Tenacious, is made by Sanrenmu, but it is a totally different knife to the 710.
So, it comes down to what you like.

I have seen so many Sanrenmu threads but never opened one until now. It prompted me to look at their knives on BF, youtube, etc.. No doubt that these knives have no problem living up to their $10 price tag, but I see something going on that I saw while living in Japan for many years. When something is so inexpensive it can turn a lot of people off regardless of value. It's simply "Cheap" in a lot of folks minds. I can see that same thing around here with many folks regarding these knives. Just comes down to will it do what you ask of it. My beef is another issue for another forum but let's just say I have no interest in a Chibenza or Benchdong.

Chibenza or Benchdong

I must of missed where a previous post was made comparing any of the knives mentioned to sebenza or benchmade.

ok i took a look at the SANRENMU website and ebay, my apologies. they do in fact copy designs like benchmade, sebenza and even spyderco. if this isnt a BM copy i dont know what is....http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/New-SanRenMu-SRM-Land-Folding-Knives-962-MC-962-/180602203537?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a0cbaed91

sub $10 knives, i like them for something you can leave someplace where you can always have it. dont particularly care if its gonna get a little rusty over time. or gets lost. certainly at that price you can buy a handful of them and stash them wherever you might need something to cut with.

I EDC my Tenacious more than I do most of my other knives that go up to $100. I prefer a delica slightly over it, but the Tenacious has a larger blade; depends what you need your edc for. Plus the Tenacious you aren't worried of scratching or breaking it because you didn't spend $80 on it.

Another advantage of the tenacious is you'll actually get customer service if something goes wrong. Not just customer service, but some really great customer service.

I own several SRM knives and they are top notch(in the price range). I consider them to be as good as any $30 knife, but I would definitely go with a tenacious. It has a nice large blade plus you get the spyderco name that goes with the spyderco CS.

What I would is go with both, you can find SRM as low as 10 shipped and even less if you order multiples.

So yeah, it depends on how much a factory warranty and customer service are worth to you.
