Spyderco Tenacious + Mule Team?

OK, so I was thinking:

The Tenacious and the Mule Team look VERY similar.

Do any of you have both, and what are the chances of implanting a Mule blade in a Tenacious body?

I'm specifically interested in knowing if the foremost hole on the Mule lines up with the pivot on the Tena?

Also, are the blade shapes similar enough for this to be able to happen?

Flame me if this has been discussed to death and/or you think its a dumb idea to begin with.

You know, I was going to rip you a new one for them being different sizes... but according to Spyderco's stats, they're the same thickness and the blade length is within 1/16" (Mule is slightly shorter) so I was entirely wrong.

Still don't know if it's feasible, but at least we now know the external measurements work.

Talk to STR or something.

My guess is it'd be a pain to butcher the mule to the tolorences needed for the Tenacious. Also remember the Spyderco's liner locks are all carefully designed. They take into consideration things like grain size, hardness, curvature, etc. Because you're swaping S90V or M4 into a knife who's liner was designed specifically for 8Cr13MoV, you might have problems with the lock.

That being said, go for it! :D

I have both. If you are a talented enough machinist, and if you don't mind using up a bunch of tool bits, and if you have enough time on your hands, it would be possible. But if all those things were true, I doubt you would be asking here, you would already be doing it.

Thanks all, it was just an idle thought in an otherwise boring work day.

The measurements look pretty good, but of course the big thing would be your accuracy and that pivot hole.

I'll never get around to it, but I wanted to implant the idea in people's heads, maybe someone will do it and I can have my curiosity satisfied ;)
