So ive been looking into some spydercos and i really like the tenacious and the cricket, not sure which to get. At first i was all for the tenacious, but now im not so sure, thoughts?

Tenacious all the way. The cricket is limited in usefulness by it's odd shape, which also makes it hard to sharpen.

The Tenacious is basically the poor mans Paramilitary 2. Cheaper steel and construction and a slightly less pointy blade, but it's still a very solid knife. I bought a ZT and ended up selling it because I like the Tenacious more. I think I'll need a PM2 if I want to get it out of my pocket... :p

Wow! There's alot of difference between the two. What will you use the knife for? The Cricket is a small knife that won't give you a full grip. If you will just be cutting tape on boxes, the Cricket would do OK. If you need anything much heavier than that I'd go for the Tenacious. Or if you want something in the middle, I'd check out the Persistance, which is the Tenacious' little brother. Also, buying a Cricket will put you at about the price of a Delica, which would be a real step up.

I have held both. It depends on what you want to use it for though. The cricket is more limited in use. The Tenacious is more useful and pretty tough. its the best bang for your buck. Just my $.02

Thats the only thing that got my tenacious out was my PM2. I carry a cricket along with it as well. I really like the cricket, its great for blister pack and opening packages with the tip it has. I think it is comfy as well. I feel it is very useful for small cutting tasks and it slices alright. Though the shape does make it difficult to sharpen. Over all go for the tenacious first, then a delica and after a PM2. Get a feel for what spyderco has to offer first, those three I bet would be in most anyone's top 5 spyderco list. If you go with the cricket at first you may get turned off to them as its weird and unique, not the best for much. I also think it isn't really worth the money being honest about it.

Of the two, I would go with the Tenacious as it is more versatile. Also the Cricket's blade shape makes it a little difficult to sharpen.

cricket is more of a collectible

tenacious is a good edc

depends on what you wanna use it for :) i'd get a new tenacious with black blade
