I just got my sharp maker and I am ready to sharpen my tenacious, But I can't seem to find the edge angle. Anyone know?

Edit: now I know I am doing something wrong, the tip is starting to look convex. Damnit

Yes, use the **********acute side. It will set your edge.******** Remember not to go fast, don't push hard and don't run the tip off the stone. I use the sides only but you're welcome to use the flats if you like em. The 30* side is for back bevel. *****************40* is for the edge you want to sharpen***************. I also don't use the top to hold or the brass bars but if its your first time get in the habit, it's a good habit to keep lol.

Use the 40 degree setting. You can also use a sharpie to mark up the edge bevels and after a few strokes on the rods you will see where you are removing material.

Hi Seanuhthin,

I the edge is looking convex, you are allowing your wrist to rotate orizontally when sharpening. The key to the sharpmakers is stiff wrist with no bend or rotation.

After experience, you can rotate vertically (for hawkbills, etc) with no horizontal rotation.

Sorry people, but did I ruin my blade? Naturally I could find a way to make this harder than it should be. I will just practice my technique better

No not at all. Use the corner of the gray stones at the 40 degree side and sharpen, keep the knife blade straight like youre trying to cut a slice off it.
