Spyderco Tenacious Review

A little background: I ordered the Tenacious about 3 weeks ago. It is my first Spyderco. When I received it I was suprised at how nice it was for the price. So, I decided I'd do a review on it.

Blade
The Tenacious has an 8Cr13Mov 3 3/8" flat ground blade. I really like the flat ground blade as it makes the Tenacious a great slicer. The 8Cr13Mov steel isn't the best by any means, but it takes a good edge from my Lansky Kit. The blade is perfectly centered. (Can't say the same for my Kershaws)

Deployment
This knife opens easily one handed with the Spyderhole and a slight flick of the wrist. You can use your thumb or middle finger for the Spyderhole. Bronze washers aid in the smoothness as you flick the blade out.

Scales
The scales are black G10. They are a little smooth and it would be nice if they had a bit more grip.

Lock
The lock is a simple liner lock. I like liner locks for their simplicity. The lock on the Tenacious is pretty beefy, so I have no worries about it failing.

Pocket Clip
The pocket clip is a basic Spyderco hourglass clip. I switched mine out for tip up carry. It was a little too tight from the factory, so I put it in a vice and bent it a little. The tension is perfect now. It is ambidextrous, for the southpaws out there.

Ergonomics
The ergos on this knife are pretty good. The thumb ramp on the blade is great, but the jimping is a kind of rough. The knife feels great in the hand.

Price
The Tenacious is an amazing bargain at around $35! The quality and F+F are great on this knife for the price.

Conclusion
BUY THIS KNIFE!

Agreed...for the price it's definitely a must have. Makes for an awesome beater knife for those borderline abuse tasks. I'm happy with the lower grade blade steel (By Spyderco standards), because it sharpens fairly easily if you chip or roll the edge.

Now consider adding one of its siblings, or the SE version which totally rocks. I love the whole lineup.

I have the Green G 10.

Nice knife for being ChiCom made.

A great knife for the money. I'm with you in wanting a little better G10. I'm not sure how they achieve the texture on this, but it's definitely not the quality of the US peel ply.

The only thing I don't like about the Tenacious is how hard it was to find a T6 torx bit driver for repositioning the pocket clip. Other than that I really don't have much to contribute. It's a sweet package, doesn't cost a ton, it's easy to get very sharp, and the whole thing just says quality.
