spyderco tenacious v.s. coldsteel recon 1

The spyderco tenacious and the RAT-1 are two of the best knives you can get in the 30 dollar price range. For general EDC carry, I'd recommend one of those.

At the $30 price point, I actually like the RAT-1 more. The Skyline is just a couple bucks more, but it isn't as hefty a knife as the Tenacious or RAT-1, if that's what you're looking for.

For $60, I think there are better options than the Recon. The Blur, Endura, and large Vantage Pro come to mind, if you're looking at a ~3.5" blade.

Check out the Cold Steel Voyager series, may be best bet in terms of quality/materials and price.

The Tenacious is literally everything you need in an EDC. It will hold a great edge, it slices very well, and it's got a good lock and ergonomics. More expensive knives just offer slightly higher quality in each of those areas - but for $30-35, it's hard to beat.

I have both, The Recon 1 is the higher quality choice with better steel and fasteners. It carries well for a "big" folder and you get the Triad lock. Downside is the aggresive G10 ( under the pocket clip) and the lock can be "sticky" until broke in. The Tenacious is a nice choice for regular edc, it has the better pocket clip and is a great slicer with Spyderco quality for the $30.00 ish price tag.
For regular sensible duties, edge Spyderco.

As much as i like spyderco...ans carry a tenacious often ....even today.....the recon is a better knife imho. not a whole lot better but the tri ad lock is worth the extra money....imho.

I'm gonna go in a different direction here, and say American Lawman. If you're going to put up the cash that the Recon 1 gets, but are also considering the Tenacious... Go Lawman.

Depends what you're looking for...

I have 2 Tenacious knives (plain and full serrated) and a Recon 1 (plain edge, bowie).

All are great knives -

EDC: Tenacious

Hard use/Self Defense: Recon 1

Just my opinion :)

I would say tenacious for edc carry... If you're gonna be batoning and destroying your knife with impact then get the cold steel recon OR lawman.
There are lots of good kershaw a around that price range also. I personally would go kershaw but that's just me.
