It is a topic that has already been discussed more than likely but I need to know. Why has Spyderco not made a tenacious with premium materials yet? I would love to see a new version with S30V as the blade steel and possibly a frame lock. it is a wonderful knife with its 8cr13mov blade and but would it not be cool to have one that was a super steel, better G10, and better quality hardware? I know I would give the extra money to have one.

I looooove the Persistence. A lot. Not a Sage, not a PM2. A Persistence. I think it comes from the love you forge over time. I carried one every day for about a year and a half and beat it up. It's off center now, has some drop dings, etc. Still love it.

If the Tenacious family got an S30V run, I'd jump on it. S35VN, even better.

Asking Spyderco to upgrade the Tenacious to premium components is like asking Mercedes to come out with an AMG Smart Car. Mercedes already has the budget line and then the AMG and Black lines. But you could play a tuner and upgrade your Tenacious like Brabus did to the Smart Cars.

Damn I need coffee.....

Give a Manix 2 a go if you want a higher end knife similar in shape/design to the Tenacious.

I have a G-10/S30V Manix 2. It is wildly different than the Tenacious family. Different blade shape (choil?), handle shape... Totally different. I like it, but it's not the same.

You are correct it is not the same, that is why I said "similar". Both are utility style G-10 EDC knives with similar overall length and blade sizes. Yes, the blade shapes are different but the fact is Spyderco doesn't make a Tenacious with higher end materials and the Manix 2 is about as close as you will find.

I'd have to agree with the others who have said that Spyderco already offers several higher-end models that might compare favourably to the Tenacious family knives. I preferred the Persistence and found that the Sage 1 had a very similar vibe.

Yeah, but the point of the original post was "what if?", as opposed to "what should I get if I want similar". If it were a substitution post, we'd be talking Native 5, PM2, Manix 2, and Sage, I think.

So you want a higher end Tenacious made in China? No, let China stick to a quality cheap/affordable knife.
