Just purchased a Ti-ATR plain edge at the mall...
This is by far my favorite knife i have ever owned... I have the all black SS version... But when i handled the Ti version i had to have it... Needless to say i payed a pretty penny for sure... I will be useing this knife at work as an EDC and i think it will be At The Ready... Atleast i got to hand pick it... I think i am going to get the other plain edge to hold onto...
What a beast
Compared the the SS version is has a few very good differences...
-Usa made v/s japan... although not a big deal.. But a plus
-S30V blade measuring in at about .126 v/s VG-10 at .119
-Titanium handles which are thicker than the SS measuring at about .127 v/s .85 Making the grip much more comfortable...
-Less holes in handle... Just a better looking knife
-Different and perfect blade grind lines..
-Thicker bevel on a thicker handle makes for a better and softer grip
-Knife has less heft... I got rid of my digital OZ scale years ago when i quit:p:thumbup:

I got the spyderedge version. ATR Ti is one of my all time favourites despite some lock issues in my specimen. I also have SS version but in my opinion it's nowhere near the Ti..

edit: according to catalog the weight should be 135 g vs. 150 g

here's mine with two other ti framelocks

Thanks for the picture......
Im glad i got to hand pick one myself.. Because the other had plain edge has a little play.... I think im going to buy it anyways.. But im not sure...
Also although its not alot lighter .... the balance is much better making it feel more so...
thanks for the weight

You're welcome...
Horizontal or vertical play? My ATR Ti after few years developed small amount od vertical bladeplay due to not enough tension of the frame leaf. It used to have perfect lockup but now you have to manually push the frame deeper to remove play.

No, mine does have perfect lock up....
But i have an old user Black one in SS that locks up perfect also...
I would imagine... Just take the knife apart and put more of a bend on the titanium compression lock..... years of use of slightly over extending the lockbar would do that even.. though it has a lock stop to prevent that... its not fool proof though...
I have done that with a yojimbo, para military, lil temp and a salsa.. Not because they had play.. but to prevent it... they are now gone.. But im sure it worked..
You just need the proper tools..
Or just send it into spyderco... I was going to buy two.. But im sure spyderco would fix it even though its old.... I would send it in if i were you... for sure... atleast if you cant fix it yourself..

If you have some T-9 Torx drivers, unscrew the pivot of your ti ATR with bladeplay and seat and reseat the pivot in each of the available positions until said bladeplay disappears.

I sent my ATR blade to be rehardened by Phil Wilson and when I first reassembled it, it had mad blade play unless I torqued the pivot tightly closed (a disappointment as the knife used to be as smooth as a folder without thrust bearings, IKBS, or MAXXGlide could be) and then I took the pivot apart and saw it had different settings (had read early models of Spyderco's Military had them, but don't own Spyderco linerlocks). After trying a few, I found the setting that allowed the knife to glide like ice over greased silk without experiencing blade play.

And so can you!

Congrats on your all-too-rare score!
