I just bought one of these... this is the one you guys are always raving about right????

Oh, man, you didn't get the Spyderco Sharpmaker, did you? I wish people would be more careful when they rave about sharpmakers on bladeforums. :D

It is fairly versatile and is good bargain, you need to spend much more to get a system that provides finer more accurate angles. It is best used in conjunction with other methods, stropping for example. Also it is still good to have a good diamond file for more aggressive filing when necessary.

Not in the least. I use mine all the time. It's quick, easy, and it puts a razor edge on most anything. It's worth every penny and then some.

Josh is just messing with ya...(I think)...Sharpmaker kicks ass. I decided to get the whole shebang, though--Diamond Rods and Ultrafine Rods as well. It's the first time since I got into knives (~10+ years) that I've been happy with my sharpening. Have you tried it yet?

Don't worry, crazy nicky, you won't be disappointed with the 204. It's all I use to maintain the razor edge on my knives. Occasionally I do use a DMT Diafold (fine/xtrafine) to reprofile an edge that has gone a little too dull(until I get the diamond rods for my 204, the DMT will have to do.) However, the med. and fine rods work great to maintain that factory edge. :D ;) :D
