This review is WAY overdue. I was in one of the passarounds for this knife.

Blade
The blade is speced at 2 15/16" by the mfg. making it legal most places. The flat grind brings the blade to a very thin edge. It cuts very well. Since most of the cutting I do on a daily basis is mail, packages, etc. at work, this short, extremely sharp blade worked out really well for me.

Handles/Ergonomics
The handles on the UKPK are G10 and available in orange and foliage green. The knife in the passaround was green. The texture on the G10 is pleasant. It has good grip but isn't overly abrasive on your hands or pockets. The ergonomics shine just like on all Spydercos. I have come to like finger choils and the one on the UKPK is positioned just right for me. The lack of a locking mechanism also allows the knife to be very thin.

Clip/Carrying
The wire clip on this is nice. I liked how low it sat. From what I've heard, wire clips are also easier on furniture, specifically the arms of nice chairs. The knife was comfortable to carry in both the front and back pockets.

Slipjoint
Spyderco's take on the slipjoint is very well executed as usual. I like the halfway point stop. It allows for easy one handed closing. The effort needed to overcome the stops on opening is low so it isn't really much harder to open than my Delica. If you use the knife as a knife and not a prybar like some of the overbuilt tank folders, you'll never miss having a lock on this one.

Overall Opinion
My final opinion is my usual opinion for Spydercos. I really liked this knife. For those looking for a ~3" folder be sure to check this one out. Don't let the lack of a lock turn you away from this.

Thank you. I need to borrow a good digital camera. I was using the camera in my PDA but that broke a while back.

Good review. I like the knife a lot. It has changed my mind on a lock being required. I carried slip joints for a long time before the use of lockbacks. I also have a couple of Urbans Orange and Green. All are excellent knives and am surprised I have not seen more posts on these knives.

RKH

I like the design and use a UKPK as an "office" knife.

Have noticed an issue - the blade wants to close in stabbing moves. Noticed this when opening a "tough" cardboard box.

The fix - raise the blade's point further "above" the pivot.
