Hello all!

I love my Spyderco Caly 3 but I've thought to get Another Similar knife, Dragonfly Foliage Green G-10 but I also noticed the retailer in here has listed Spyderco Urban Slipit. Honestly I don't need lock in my blade and I love my slipjoints. I would probably take a slipjoint over lockblade nearly every situation why I like Spyderco Urban. I also like fact its blade is thicker than Dragonflies ( 2,4mm vs. 3,2mm ) and resembles greatly my Caly 3.

Urban has things I like: Its light: Less than 60 grams (bit over 2 Oz ) Blade thickness 3,2mm (1/8") edge length 57mm ( 2 1/4" ) same as most SAK's. It has lowriding wire clip, just like my Caly 3. It has leaf shaped blade which I like.

In paper it looks awesome yet very expensive knife. I would like to hear user experiences of Spyderco Urban's, pro's and con's. It sounds like en excellent EDC blade.

I also love my Caly3 and got to handle a UKPK in foliage green at the last gun show.

A few of my first reactions were; it is a linerless design, it seemed thicker than my Caly3 (not sure if it actually is), the slipit action seemed to work well and lockup nice, there is a half stop, and the G10 is very grippy.

If you like the G10 texturing, it seemed to be about the same as my Caly3, just thicker slabs with no liners. I've gone to the smooth CF on my Caly3 and prefer it on this knife.

I'm still tempted to buy one. Not sure if that helps, but those were my first impressions as a Caly3 lover!

Thanks. Any feed back is helpful. Due VAT prices are near States MSRP+shipping cost. That is why I have to research bit.

Its an awesome knife. But for a little bigger I like the UKPK even more. Same features but slightly larger.

I tried one but ended up selling it because I missed a lock. Not for any tangible reason though. Just that I missed a lock.

That is understandeable. I don't however need lock, so that won't be a problem for me. Lock is handy but I can live without it. I do plan travel in Australia and slipjoint is more sensible choice there what I hear horror stories about their legistlation in some parts.

To me Spyderco and slipjoint seems like match made in heaven: Traditional slipjoint system in excellent spyderco materials and design. :D but I still hate to dish out 130€'s unless I am 100% sure of knife. Especially when ZT 0500 MUDD is 110€'s...

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with the Urbans, although I wouldn't mind getting one. However, I have had/handled the UKPK. It's pretty much like the Caly 3 & if you like the Caly 3, then you'll like the UKPK. I think that if the Urban fits your hand, it's a great choice.

Both the UKPK & Urbans' blades are 1/8" thick. The Urbans are made in Japan with VG-10 steel & the UKPK's are made in U.S. with S30V steel.

The one I really want to get/try, is the Terzuola Slipit, but that costs even more.

Good luck.

I have both a UKPK and a Urban. The f&f is better on the UKPK and I like it's ergos better. The action was smoother on the Urban and it has jimping on the choil. The Urban would be easier to take apart to clean because it has less screws. They're both good knives. I got my Urban on eBay for $50. If I could only choose one I would without a doubt choose the UKPK. If you have any specific questions let me know. I'm sick as a dog right now so I probably left some stuff out.

I looked at the Urban, and looked some more...just couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on it. Something about the design doesn't appeal to me.

But when I first saw the Terzuola, I jumped on it. IMO it's a very good looking knife - not a surprise, coming from Bobby T - plus CF scales,
S30V, and at least for me, a more useful size than the Urban.

I agree 100% with your logic. I had the Orange Wharnie. The bottom line is it was a GREAT eec. Vrry light and robust too. You'll like it a lot.
