Spyderco Vallotton Concerns

I recently got a new Vallotton and have fallen in love with it. The fit and finish is fantastic and I think it will serve me very well. I have 2 concerns with regularly carrying and using it though. The first is that the knife materials are so polished that they are going to get beat up fast, and the second is that a good deal more of the knife sticks out of my pocket than I normally like.Just wanted to see if anyone knows of a good clip that will put more of ether blade in my pocket with a little of the handle still exposed. I would also love to hear from anyone that has really used and carried one of these to see how it holds up to use. Thanks.

I had theoriginalspaceman deep carry titanium clip on the Vallotton for a short time but it detracted from the aesthetic appeal of the knife.
So I picked up a black carbon fiber clip from usaknifemaker and it looks great but it's too slippery. The polished scales have no grip and the carbon clip is pretty but the tension and grip is limited by the clip material.
I've carried the knife a few times just for fun (mine is the D/A automatic conversion) but if I choose to carry it on a full time basis I'll put the deep carry clip back on to minimize the chance of loss.
As far as getting beat up, it will. The polished bits will definitely scratch but same as the Hungarian model there are measures. A few members here have bead blasted the handles and they look great. There is a thread on the Hungarian around here you can search for some more info on that.
And don't worry about durability of this model, it's a tank!

Carbon clip installed. Pretty but worthless.

The Vallotton appears to use the same 3 hole clip used on a number of other Spyderco models. I believe Steve Rice (STR), who has his own forum here in the Knifemakers area, makes a "waterfall" low rider replacement for it, and there's at least one other craftsman who does as well.

Why worry about the scratching? They reflect character, and indicate the knife has been to places where it should be. As folks have indicated, there are deep carry clips available. :)

Well, two reasons I can think of right now are:
1. Not all knives look good when they beat to heck.
2. Not all people like having expensive knives look like they are beat to heck, especially after a little use.

So put it in a safe then. Great way to. Buy something nice that you like but never use it so you can pull it out every now and then look at it. Great way to live. :) Almost all knives look cooler with a little honest wear. It's not like it's super high end collectible custom knife.
