I am going to make a long story short, I hope. This past July I had a spinal stroke, stayed in the hospital and rehab for 4 months, in a wheelchair due to paraplegia, and probably will from now on, had to sale my collection to help pay off the bill, and am now rebuilding my collection with only the knives I really, really liked. This includes ZT, Kershaw, Boker, Fantoni, Benchmade, Hogue, and of course, SPYDERCO!

The Vallotton is a masterpiece from the factory in Taiwan. Even with the thick, narrow, stilleto like blade, it stll came out of the box with a razor edge on it. The fit/finish of this knife is excellent, with even blade grinds, the micarta handle scales fit against the stainless liners with everything even and no high or low spots. The liner lock fits against the blade tang like it should and has enough stiffness to stay on the blade tang and should not need any extra bend in it from me.

Before the spinal stroke I would have fitted a foldover clip to it so that the entire knife would go into my pocket, but since I am in a wheelchair I won't
do this because I like some handle sticking out so I can take it out easier.

I've had this knife before and had put it on my list to buy in rebuilding my knife collection, which is now at 7 folders (not counting my sak, or the RR's, and my Hammer Brand's, all of which come to 5 knives) and 2 fixed blades. Not much at all when you consider the collections you find here, but it is a start and it will be fun building it back up.

The Spyderco Vallotton is and will be a sweet piece of my collection, and a great edc knife.

Amen brother! I have one too and agree 100%.

:( yes it's an amazing knife, too bad I never had the guts to carry it due to its awesome fit and finish so I ended up selling it and buying an Emerson mini Cqc 15

I'm carrying mine this week. I just used it to dismember an apple for lunch.

today I managed to take a few photos of the Vallotton. There are a lot of unique features of this knife that I like- including sculpted and polished G10, and the double bevel grind at the tip of the blade. It is like a tanto mixed with a curved grind.

I've been carrying my Vallotton for the past few days. I did end up putting a foldover clip on it that lets the entire knife slide inside my pocket. I put a short laynard on it that I grasp when removing the knife and it slides right out. It still amazes me how much custom look and feel this knife has! In my previous collection I had two John W. Smith custom folders and the Vallotton compared very favorably to them.

So come on Vallotton owners, speak up and tell what you think of your's.

Love mine,
One of Spyderco's gems. It really is put together very nicely. Love the thumb stud/hole option, makes it come out with ease.
I think she has great optics, looks and is solid, kind of reminds me of an old style gangster knife, something maybe Al, Capone might carry.lol
All in, I love this this one.
Cheers

I liked everything about the knife except for 2 things, the handle is very thick and it is a very heavy folder for daily carry, others really like heft to a folder, I prefer mine large and light. Blade shape and grind were fantastic and very useful and the fit and finish on mine was excellent, I sold it off because it took up to much room in my pocket.

Very nice picture Jill!

I took the clip off mine and I've only carried it in a belt sheath hiking as a secondary just in case blade.

i should hold one again, i like the design but at the time it felt a little thick for me considering the narrowness and design of the knife. kinda like having a 4x4 for a handle on a cold steel tilite. but i was probably having an off day so i should re asess because this knife is really pretty and i want to like it

I have one and love it I also own 2 vollotton customes that are insane and over $1500 !they never go outside so I bought the spyderco one just for that.I think it feels like a custome $500 pluss knife.just a beautifully piece. Some don't like the hole and studs but I do.it depends how I'm holding the knife.if I'm low I use the middle finger spydy hole move.if I'm chocked up I use the studs.cool blade also.my customes are d/a so I don't use the studs often.if you have the chance to get eather a spyderco or straight up custome so worth it.very unique piece.mine is so smooth flicks open so nice.I prefer a heavy blade also I feel I get more controle with it.

The studs are more bladestop than opening device, a method that originated with Mr. Vallotton I believe. The thick handle, and slim blade are design trademarks, also from Mr. Vallotton. I think Spyderco really nailed this knife, and again, the Taichung factory is putting out some of the finest made production knives in the world today!:)

The Vollattons do conversions on them to make them auto with the switch being hidden within the scale. Those are also wicked awesome.

Cutter, very sorry to hear about your stroke last summer. Best of luck to you in the future.
