Got this neat little AUS8 blade Walker in the mail this morning from a forum member wanting it converted into a .100 thick titanium frame lock with a G11 non lock side.

Here is a quick scan shot before surgery.

Stay tuned.

No turnin' back on this one now. Step one and step two are up. Got the parts traced out for the band saw next then we map out the rest.

Some of these little FRN folders look pretty odd when you get a peek inside huh?

Had some last minute changes made right before cutting out these new parts. As you can see from the drawing on the lock showing the original length of the body I have at the owners request brought out just a bit more pinky support in the new body. Once it was retraced I got to cuttin'.

Made some progress today on it after that.

Seen here is the lock side of .107 thick 6AL-4V titanium supplied by the owner of the knife to use here. I've cut out my lock, drilled the holes and have them all recessed for the flat head screws I will be using in each 1/8" barrel. I opted for a complete barrel construction on this. It should be a very sturdy little giant of a knife.

Also shown is the G11 non lock side missing the thumb ramp to release the lock at this point. All holes are drilled and recessed on this one also and then I have a spacer for the rear in the same G11 material.

I have also redrilled the pivot hole in the blade to the new 1/8" diameter size needed for the pivot barrel.

Coming along nicely at this point. When I get back to the shop I'll mark drill and set the detent ball in the lock, then cut the lock relief and then spring the lock, assemble and finish out.

Stay tuned.

Looking great! I like the extra length on the handle; I didn't give you a set measurement because I'm sure it doesn't work that way. :)

Great job (as always!)

Thanks. I did get to the lock relief cut which I finished before bending the lock to spring it. Before calling it a day I set the detent ball in the lock. Tomorrow I'll finish it check it for function and see how I feel.

She looks good now but you can never tell all you need until you get it squeezed together.

Once I finish this one I'll move on to the next one in line which will either be the Mini Manix or I'll finish the Native if the titanium I ordered ever gets here.

What a sweet heart of folder this little Spyderco Walker turned out to be! Its so nice it surprised even me and I did it. I think the owner of this jade jewel will be very happy when he gets back from his vacation and finds this waiting for him. No offense to what others make out there in the knife world but something like this would give any competitor knives a run for their money in small tough knives if it were a production run. Hint hint to the powers that be! :D

One down and on to the Mini Manix now.

Thanks for looking.

Oh yeah. The final measurements came to be,

It has a new length closed, because as you recall the handle was lengthened from 3.5" closed approximately to 4" for the pinky rest.

The new length open is 6.5" from just over 6" before by a hair.

Blade length is 2.5" which I believe is the only thing as far as measurments that is unchanged.

New weight from 1.6 ounces is now 2.1 ounces.

And its actually thinner and now measures 5/16" thick. No clip was ordered on this one as I found out the other day.

So this one is ready to ship and comes together to make for a super nice little 50 state legal carry folder for the owner.

Oops. Guess what I forgot! I'm glad I read the note again before packing it up.

Anyway, now its done. :D
