I decided to modify my Warren Thomas Karambit a while ago. I wanted to primarily add the "wave" that is so slick on Emerson's design. I also thought about adding a "stop" to the spine after reading Michael Janich's review of the knife in a magazine. He advocated the addition of it. I didn't think it would be too hard to do these things, but it did take a while. The only tools I used were a Dremel tool with sanding wheel, fiber-reinforced cutoff wheel, and two grinding bits. I finished with varying grits of hobby sandpaper.
Basic shots of it open and closed.
My modified "wave." I didn't want to cut through the designer's name, nor mar the useability of the Spyderhole. I think I reached a good compromise.
The "stop" I added. I tried to match the bevel of the top
half of the knife. It turned out pretty well. The grind isn't perfect, but this is my user knife and is already scratched up anyway. Looks fine to me.
I'm really liking this knife now. It has temporarily deposed my Yojimbo as my SD EDC.
