I deiced to check on this since I have an IDEA about the answer, but I'm not sure. Is the Spyderco warrior legal in New York state. I'm assuming NOT, due to the serrated back, but I wanted to double check. Since the edges don't meet, I was unsure if it would be classified as a dagger or stiletto.

So what's the verdict folks?

i have no idea about your state, but in my humble opinion it probably is not classified as a dagger/stiletto. With that being said its still a scary looking knife... Not a good idea imo.

Yeah, it IS creepy lookin, but I basically wanted it as a hunting knife. I figured the serrated back would come in hand for bones and joints.

"Legal" is a multi-faceted matter. Laws can regulate possession (just having the knife), sale, purchase, open carry and concealed carry.

Paragraph (2) of NY Penal Law 265.01 states:
A person is guilty of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree when:
...
(2) He possesses any dagger, dangerous knife, dirk, razor, stiletto, imitation pistol, or any other dangerous or deadly instrument or weapon with intent to use the same unlawfully against another;

Because it's a combat knife (come on, it has "warrior" in the title) would probably fall under "dangerous knife" if anything. And don't depend on that "intent" part to be worth much if caught carrying it, as it is often simply presumed.

"Dangerous knife". Good LORD man, that seems like a slippery slope of a law right there.

In that case, I'm just gonna get a Jumpmaster. Last thing I need is heat over my choice of hunting/fishing knife.
