...Are they all the same size? Specifically the Tenacious, Military and Paramilitary. Spyderco has generously offered to send me new replacement washers for my Tenacious that they use in their Military line. They can't send Tenacious washers since it's not made in Golden. They don't even know if the Mili washers will fit, but will send 'em anyway:thumbup:. Anyone know if they are compatable?

If you have access to a good micrometer you might get lucky and find the the measurements of that good washer you have left are available from some of the suppliers. Knowing the dimenrsions will help a lot. Can't Spyderco at least provide you with the metrics on the Tenacious washers?

Thanks for your quick reply, Reeek. Do you mean knife supplier, or parts supplier? If you meant knife supplier/dealer/retailer, why would they have any washers lying around? I assume that they only sell knives; not repair them. And Spyderco could probably get me the specs for the Tenacious, but at this point I'm just dealing with whoever is sitting at the computer answering customer service e-mails (Charlynn, who has been wonderful with me so far). It's a solvable problem, but since they're doing this without charge, I don't think too much effort will be put into tracking down and comparing measurements. I'm just grateful that they're sending me Mili washers without asking for so much as a self-addressed, postage paid envelop from me.

If they send them to you slap them in and try them out. The big thing I would be worried about is the fit, you want to match the ID pretty closely to the pivot diameter, and you want the thickness to be appropriate. Another thing is you want the OD to be just about as big as possible before it starts interfering.

A micrometer is about the only valid tool to measure thin parts.

You might also ask this question in the Spyderco subforum here and on their company forum. I've often found that someone on the boards will go out of their way to answer tech questions like this. Then, you can go to knifekits.com or some other supplier with the dimensions of the washers and get some replacements.

Another good resource is STR. Ask this in his subforum. He may already know the answer if he's worked on a Tenacious before.

Thanks, Dale. I'll try the Spyderco forums. But who or what is STR? I've looked through the forum and subforum titles but nothing clicks.

I have had several Spydercos apart and the ID of the pivot washers is 5/32.
I have some of the washers that I got from Texas Knife Supply that were the correct ID. However, I did have to thin them out a little before I installed them. Spyderco PB washers are rather thin little buggers. You can thin them out on a bench stone.
