i recently traded away my Sage 1, and usually i dont miss a knife that much when i trade it away, but i find myself missing the pocket clip configuration more then anything. i never had to use it as it was more of a dress knife then a user. i did carry it and i found the wire clip to be very versitle. i have heard though, some negative thigns about it. and was wondering if anybody had any bad experiences with it. IMO its an awesome feature. some people cant stand it though and i would like to hear why. from what i hear its pretty strong for its construction. so any bad experiences with it? ever have it snap on you?

I've got a couple of Spyderco knives with wire clips and have never had any problems with them. I actually kind of prefer them as I find they catch on things less often. Part of that is because I carry in my back pocket.

Yes, I have to agree with having no problems with the wire clip on my Spyderco Super Leaf so far.

I also plan on getting a Caly 3.5 in the near future too. Part of my reasons for getting it is the wire clip.

I think the Spydereco wire clips are one of their finest for overall EDC. Spyderco only uses them on the knives where they work.

My favorite clip so far by a pretty big degree. I also liked the Sebenza clip and the clip on my Terzuola slipit, but the wire clip is the right balance of grip, low visibility, non-hand irritation, and strength. Perfect clip for an EDC sized blade IMO.

the wire clip on my dodo caught on something on a crowded bus and ripped off pretty easily. luckily the knife just dropped into my pocket

Personally, i have never had a problem with any of them, and find them quite useful for work environments, more "formal" stuff, etc. The depth of carry in the pocket is outstanding, as well as the lack of a typical knife looking clip in your pocket. I love the fact that it protects the vast majority of the scales, as well as having less surface area of clip to get scratched up.

The overall feeling I have gotten about them is a love/hate feeling. Some love em, some cant stand em.

Obviously, they might be a little more flimsy, but I have had other clips bend when caught on things, of course its going to happen once in a while, its unavoidable. (for me at least) I would say that if you have a habit of hitting or snagging on things at work or whatever, skip it. If not, or you have a normal carry environment, theyre fantastic.

I dislike wire clips and I would like to see Spyderco make a 'normal' clip that fits the slot to be able to replace them. At least on the models I have with wire clips I find there is always an extra pull needed to get the knife out of the pocket and an extra push to put it back in, sometimes requiring both hand, which I find annoying in an EDC knife. The wire clip is on of the reasons the Caly3 never got much pocket time from me.
