This is steel junky request - I just bough G-Sakai Bosen Enkuto with laminated powdered high speed stainless SRS 15 (C=1.5 Cr=13 W=1.25 Mo=2.75 V=1.5) by SUS 405. So this is looks like D2 on steroids - high carbon, high tungsten, high vanadiun and high molibben steel. Fallkniven have some kitchen knives out of it (from Japan as everything).

With such a great relation with Japanese knife manufacturers, may be Spyderco will introduce some model with this steel?

Like Callipso Senior or Military.

Thanks, Vassili.

BTW, Kershaw annonce that they will have SpecBump limited runs with many different steel, what if Spyderco will have limited runs of Military with different steels?

Hi Vassili,

We've not used the steel. I'll check with G.Sakai on their opinions.

We are "playing" with different steels. There are a few in the works now. ZDP-189 is our current Japanese "tester".

In addition., Crucible is also "playing" with some new steels that we will make some test runs with.

I did play with it a little bit - cut csrdboard and chop some bushes - it continue to shave as nothing ever happen.

It may be very well - ZDP-189 for big knives, tougher but still over 63HRC.

Thanks, Vassili.
