I hadn't perused the Spyderco website for quite some time, and about 6 months ago I did, and I saw the announcement for a World Trade Center commemorative knife project that honored the 2819 victims of the cowardly attack by terrorists on 9/11/01. The knife would be a limited edition of 2819 (one for each victim), cost $225, and all of the proceeds would be donated to ethe NYPD and NYFD Widows and Children's Benefit Fund.

The knife would have a fully serrated 3.5" Sheepsfoot blade of CPM S30V, serialized, with FRN handles, their new ball-bearing lock, and would have a piece of steel (from Tower 1) in the shape of the NY skyline embedded in the handle. A pants clip (made of heavy wire) allows for a tip-up carry.

I quickly called Spyderco and ordered one, and they were able to get me one in my retired LEO badge #!

The knife came about a month ago, complete with a beautiful hard-wood display box and a "free" Meercat. I love this knife! The palm swell makes it feel great in the hand, and the NY skyline with the twin towers (made from steel of Tower 1) really moved me. Every time I take it out to use the knife, it always seems to make me "Remember"!

It is an EDC for me now, and I love to take it out and show it off at every opportunity. I've never been to "Ground Zero" in NY city, but this small knife affords me a feeling of "connection" with our fallen countrymen. Thank you Sal and Gail Glesser and the entire Spyderco crew for bringing a truely inspiring idea into reality! Bravo!
