Several years ago I purchased several Spydercos for use on my boat and one included a Yurman. When selling the boat I found this knife
in the cabin, never used. It's certainly an unusual knife. I am curious as to its intended use. Any one else got one?

The original Yurman design was used in the killing procedure of kosher chickens. It was a plain edge version. The serrated version was made at the same time simply because some of our customers wanted a serrated version. The steel is a stainless steel called MRS-30. It has 1.15 carbon and is an exceptional cutting tool.

Sal,

Thanks, I originally purchased it for cutting frozen
bait. I ended up using one of your serrated kitchen knives
instead.

Always fun to bump an ancient thread - just came across pictures of the K10 Kosher Butcher knife.

Man, that serrated version makes me feel sorry for the chickens.

actually kosher butchering knives are meant to kill the animal in one cut, but sometimes nerves still act up, maybe causing the corpse to flop around, or run for a bit

i actualyl would want some of these, and im pretty sure the local butcher near us would want one
