so I own plenty of spydercos. Ive handled even more. At the moment I own: pm2, yojimbo 2, southard, sage 2, delica 4. For zero tolerance ive owned two 0350s and I just recently got the 0562CF. I have a kershaw link I use as the "hey can I borrow your knife" knife. Im looking to try another knife company and don't know where to start. I know there's benchmade and everyone loves the grip..of anything I'd get the mini grip with the g10 and 20CV. But what else should I look at? I hear about Emerson very rarely. And I don't really know any other knife companies in that realm.

Price range $50-$250
I have larger hands and the most comfortable knives I've ever held are the spyderco manix 2 g10 and my recently acquired ZT 0562CF. I do have larger hands so typically the larger knives are more comfortable for me so I don't mind the heft.
Nothing over 3.5, and will mainly be used to do normal edc tasks around the house like the boring package opener. But will always be used rather heavily at work cutting through rope, 550 cord, zip ties, weed wacker string. Etc. any ideas?

CRKT has some pretty fresh designs, not exactly expensive either. I like the looks of many Bokers too, though nobody here ever seems to talk about them.

Kizer actually has a lot of nice looking blades in your price range. They are the company that changed a lot of people's attitudes about Chinese manufacturing, after all.

Emersons are not my thing, too chunky, but a lot of people like them. I say go with Benchmade, I never tried them but they're on the list once I'm over my ZT phase.

NB on ZT :0630 or 0550 may be interesting to test a washer/non-flipper ZT... they are great!

NB on Spyderco: the slysz designs are sweet!

To stay on topic, I would recommend a Benchmade 940-1 or mini griptilian as they are good light EDC with axis lock
The large griptilian is nice too but IMO does not compete with the PM2 and 0350

For an higher budget a large Inkosi or a small insingo 21 with micarta are very good option
My large KA CF Inkosi is one of my favourite folder
They are out of your budget, as they were on mine but at the end I have no regrets having saved some money to buy them

There is a lot of good things said on WE and kizer and I think they are worth giving some a try

Some Brous , like the sinnner , had my attention some time ago
The flipping action is good and they have some interesting designs

Hinderer has the half track
A little bit on the heavy side for the blade length but still interesting

Al mare Sere 2000 is in your budget and they look good
IMO they are expensive for what they are but still they have some good designs

The DPX hest is a concept with sleipner steel that I think can be interesting
Part knife part multi tool

Lionsteel is also quite obvious in your price range
The TR and SE-1 are good knives

Southern grind spyder monkey is an excellent EDC too
I have it for some time and only my small Inkosi push it out of my pocket when I look for a knife and compact EDC

Hope it helps

Of course, the Bradford Guardian3 fixed blade in a cross-draw horizontal carry. I have worn mine every day for the last eight months...along with my Sebenza clipped in my pocket. I find that I am using the Bradford more often, as it is more easily and quickly brought into play. It's VERY comfortable and hides easily under my untucked t-shirt. The price is right and you can find them in 3V, M390 and N690, I believe. Highly reco'd by me...I've had four.
