Spyderco

A portion of Spydercos lineup is manufactured in Taiwan, a portion in Japan, a portion in Colorado, and a few budget models in China.

Cloners that make copies don't draw the line at telling the truth about the country it was made in. The presumption of it saying Taiwan points to it being a copy is incorrect.

Taiwan has some of the best production robots out there. Back 30 years everything that came out that country was notorious junk. Like low end, gum ball machine, plastic toy junk.

Not no more. Spyderco Taiwan makes some really nice stuff. I wish they'd bring back the boot dagger but nothing so far. Very popular knife and it was Taiwan. The original factory.

Now, Spyderco has two factories. With the later having a simple blade stamp of, "Taiwan". The previous factory has the province name.

The only problems I've ever encountered was a early production Japanese made. The later models are on par.

For future assurance, buy from a reputable dealer, preferably one that supports this site (a favorite of mine being DLT Trading). One problem with Amazon is that unscrupulous buyers can buy a legit knife and return a fake. Furthermore, it's just good practice to support small business. Hell, DLT gets me my knives as fast as Prime anyway, without any worry of legitimacy. There are a number of other good dealers out there as well, none of which would EVER sell a counterfeit.

The Sliverax is made in Taichung. I can't recall ever hearing about that model being faked (though it wouldn't shock me to learn that it has been..). Based on limited OP pics, everything looks correct to me.

It's generally good practice to avoid Amazon when buying pocket knives. That said, Taichung makes several great Spyderco models. Enjoy your new knife!

I have been carrying a Spyderco with 110v steel and I wanted something a little easier to sharpen. The one I got has s30v steel. I have several customs made by Jaimie Herring at Lake Creek Forge that are made from Elmax. These things get scary sharp, but everyone needs a folder to carry every day. To be honest I panicked when I saw Taiwon.

Spyderco is a sponsored vender on Amazon.

That's where I bought my Siren. The 200n steel version.

Don't remember the store but I also bought a Roc off Amazon. (Their Japanese made clever blade)

Hogue and Mora. Bought a bunch of Mora. Case.

I'm still going to buy stuff off of Amazon.

If I come across a fake. Don't you think I'd plaster it on here?
