I'm thinking of buying my first Spyderco knife. I like to collect fixed blades. What do you'all think of the Bill Moran line?

The Moran collaborations are excellent (I have both, but find the drop-point more useful)! It would be especially fitting to purchase one now, as Mr. Moran just recently passed away, kinda like a tribute. The blade steel is excellent (VG-10), and the handles are very comfortable. Good luck.

Best wishes,

Great hunting/camping knives because they are light-weight and easy to carry yet strong and hold a very good edge. The handles feel good. The sheath is very well designed. They were the first fixed blades that Spyderco decided to market and that company doesn't sell junk.

Moran was the first Spyderco fixed blade, so it would be appropriate to start a FB collection with one.

If you're into fixed blades, you'll also need to look at the Temperance. Best fixed blade Spyderco has made to date, hands down.
