Does anybody have any thoughts or experience with the Hossom line of fixed-blades (Dayhiker, Woodlander, Forager, and Forester) from Spyderco? It seems like a decent combination of design, steel, and scales. There are several lengths available with the same design. I've tried googling for reviews but nothing really comes up. I was hoping someone here might know something about it.

I'm new here so I hope I'm doing this right. Spyderco doesn't need me to sell their knives. The links are for reference only.
Here are links to the knives:

Welcome, crm. You can't go wrong with Spyderco. That style of FB does not do it for me. Did you check out Bark River? Take your time, you have lots to choose from. Post what you get.

Thanks for the tip. What don't you like about the blade? Or better yet, what is up with recurves? Some people can't seem to get far enough away from them. My experience is very limited so I really appreciate the information and advice.

I've handled some real custom Hossoms and Jerry tells me the Spyderco models are very similar in feel. By logical extension, they have a great handle with good balance for their intended tasks and will make excellent users. I asked Jerry how to pick from the different sizes and he told me the Forester should be your pick if you plan to be building a shelter and the Woodlander would be able to handle everything but and should be great for general outdoors work. The Forager is a compromise in size and utility between the two and the Dayhiker is just what its name says. I plan to acquire a Forester or Woodlander soon.

Thank you. Talk about first-hand information. Have you or anyone else used one of these?

crm---That style is just not for me. You might really like it. Try to handle one. Carrot gave some good advice. When I bush-whack, I use a hatchet. Post your decision.

Yeah, I tend to use a machete for brush-whacking. I've been looking at the various camp/bolo/revurse curve blades(Ka Bar Camp Knife etc.)---something I can carry when camping/hiking that isn't as big as a machete but more useful than a small blade. I live waaaayyyyyyyy out in the country and it is actually cheaper for me to buy online, examine, and return if I don't like than it is for me to drive to where I can fondle these blades in person. I know that sounds unethical, but $3.25 gas makes it so. I tend to just keep whatever I buy anyways and barter with it later if I don't want to keep it. Thanks for all of the advice and I will definitely post when I make a final decision. This forum is addictive.
