hey all, I'm new to this side of the block. Just wanting to know what is everyones thoughts on the byrd cara cara. As far as blade material and function, is it up to par with say a endura ?

Not quite on par with an Endura, but as good as possible for the price. Byrd is Spyderco's budget line and the materials aren't quite on par with the regular Spyderco models, but the Cara Cara is a very nice knife and reviews have generally been very positive. If you want an Endura but don't want to spend the money the Cara Cara is a good choice.

I've handled one in a brick and mortar store a while back, and I'd say that's on-par (close to it, at least) with the Endura. The Byrd line in general are good knives for the money, and make good gifts for non-knife people who just want something sharp that isn't a boxcutter...:p

It's similar to the Endura, but it has a finger choil and it's not quite as good. The Endura has better steel and slightly better fit and finish.

The Cara Cara is cheaper though, and if you want a G-10 handle on your knife, the G-10 Cara Cara is MUCH cheaper than the G-10 Endura.

Agreed with all above birds are great knives. I prefer the Cara caras because i like choils. I use byrds more often than my spydies cause if i break or loose them i will be able to sleep at night .
