Spyderco

+1 Beat me to it. Without an answer to these questions (especially the latter), it's really hard to give a good recommendation.

I think that the Endura and/or Delica are excellent entry points into the Spyderco line. They exhibit the quintessential Spyderco look and feel. They are made of very good steel (VG-10). They are priced in the $60 range so that they are accessible to just about everybody.

Spyrderco is not for the traditionalist. However, I find their practical approach to design to be sort of setting a new tradition if you will.

Without knowing budget and intended use, I'd recommend a Delica or Endura as said above. Great knives for little coin. Another option that's a bit cheaper would be the Tenacious and it's brethren. Not as good of steel as the Endura or Delica, but still solid knives for the money.

i just got a Centofante 3 i cannot say enough good things about this knife!!!!

it is thin profiled and has a lightweight FRN handle. It has two channels that are furrowed out of the handle for better grip. The VG-10 blade has both a hollow-grind and wedge-grind with non-sharpened spine serrations. It also has a black steel pocket clip positions for tip-up/down, right-hand carry.

it has replaced several other spydercos as my new fav also it weighs 2.5 oz!!

I'd go with a colored FFG Delica--choose you favorite out of Blue, Purple, Brown, Grey and Green. I think the Delica is a great EDC knife and a classic Spyderco.

scroll down a few rows for the colored ones.

Also, if you're willing to spend around $70, the Stretch 2 is IMO possibly the best Spyderco design out there, and is certainly a step up from Delica or Centofante 3.

I've had mine almost a year, and I still use it regularly. It is one heck of a great knife, and give everything spyderco is known for--superb ergonomics, flat ground, forward finger choil and a highly functional blade shape.

If you have the extra $20 to spend on a Stretch 2, you will NOT be disappointed. The FFG Delica is a great one as well. Also, you can take a look at the FFG Endura if you want something bigger but still around $50-60

the centofante 3 IMO is the perfect spyderco edc good blade length light weight great slicer unless you live on a nature preserve its all you need for daily edc

Sage1, don't make this decision harder than it needs to be. :)

I agree, Sage 1 is superb as well. I figure it might be a bit on the expensive side, that's why I suggested the Delica FFG and Stretch 2. All 3 are superb blades, which I have EDC'd many times and will continue to use for a long time.

If +/-$100 blades are on the plate, you might want to check out the Caly 3 or 3.5 along with the Sage 1...honestly, I personally would go with the Caly over it but only by a tad. You can't go wrong with either.

Honestly, I'd recommend getting all of these knives;):D That's what I did. Too hard to choose!

The answer for me seems to be "all of them!" Well... not really all of them, but a whole bunch of them. :)

My first Spydie. There really isn't a better introduction than this knife. Unless you're a lefty.

I AM A LEFTY!!! This knife is so easy to use and operate. I was really put off by the fact that it was made in taiwan. I figured that for $100 I might as well buy american. However, I got this boy in a trade and have been loving it ever since. It is a really pretty knife, but one of the best EDC blades i have EVER used. I have a bunch of spydercos and have had 2 benchmades. I'm not really a fan of kershaw anymore. This knife has a really good FFG blade that is not too thin to accomodate larger cutting tasks. The S30V blade steel is really good and holds an edge really well. I love the ergonomics of the knife.

FOR ALL YOU LEFTIES!!!

The reason this knife is so easy to use despite it being designed for all those underprivileged right handed people :) IS that it has a huge cut out for the liner lock/thumb hole. This makes accessing the lock very easy. For the price I am even considering purchasing the titanium version. (I have never purchased two of the same knife...wait lies...i got the regular para 2 then bought the sprint) But really, This knife is great. Many have said it, but as a first time spyderco-er one couldn't go wrong with this blade. The blade shape and everything about the knife...including the pretty cheap price, make it an awesome edc blade.

my advice? GO FOR IT!!! and get a Golden made spyder to back it up.

If you are looking for something small, but cuts like a bigger knife - I highly recommend the DragonFly 2. For my money, this is the best knife of its size on the market. Period.
