As I mentioned in a previous thread, I finally broke down and bought my first Spyderco a couple of weeks ago. Well that was all it took to open the flood gates. About a week ago I purchased a UK Penknife off of a fellow forumite and this knife, like my Military, was a superb specimen. The addiction hit me again last night when I was searching the BAY. Found a great price on a Mini-Manix and I couldn't resist. So now I have a Military, a Mini-Manix, and a UKPK. The new flat grind Chinook II is next on my list, if I could have found one last night in my search I probably would have bought that too.

I would just like to take a minute to thank Spyderco for my current poverty level. :D

Keep'm coming Sal.

I am waiting delivery of my first real spyderco and I have the feeling ill be owning one or two others......
Whats your impressions of the UKPK please?

The UKPK is a great little knife. The s30v blade is a nice useful size at around 3" and it is very sharp. The G-10 is very grippy, as all Spyderco G-10 is. The pressure on the slip joint is more than enough to keep the blade open and closed without worry. I especially like the finger choil up next to the blade, it allows for a forward grip for precise cutting chores. All in all I think this is a great knife for the money.

And it won't get any beter... I have over 70 Spydies and im still searching for that next one.....

Spydies are like oxygen. Addictive from your very first experience:cool:

Very well put. After my first spydie I strayed a bit but I always go back to the Spydies for Fit and Finish and price you can't beat them

i`ve been poor for months feeding my spyderco addiction i now have 14 and another one on the way!

The one thing you might even be overlooking is the fact that Spyderco always has something coming down the pipeline  . My want list is often transforming itself into my "GOTTA HAVE" list.

It has been on more that a couple of occasions I have paid my utility money or insurance money to nab a really hard to get Spyder. That's why I've been working a lot of 12 hour + days here of late. I don't care how many you have you will never be satisfied.

But unlike the riverboat gambling casinos you actually have something to show for your $$ :o . Many of mine have turned out to be investments ;) . But some are way to sacred and sentimental to ever trade or sell. I have an aluminum handled Spyderco Blackhawk that I would not trade or sell. I also have a VG-10 Zowada model that is literally a sacred cow that will be my constant companion  . I would trade heavily for a user of that model. Go try to find either one of those if you don't think they are precious.

they have a zowada at my local knife shop . it`d be sitting in my collection , but i don`t have $285 aussie dollars to buy it . micarta handle , spear point , combo edge . makes me drool every time i see it.

Well.. in the last two weeks, I've gone from 2 Spydies to 7. Over the last couple of years, I've been content to admire other spydies, but felt no need to expand the collection. The knives I had were real workers, a Renegade ( for EDC), and a Native I for work. Now I've been snaggin em up like I'm a crack addict looking for my next fix. I know it seems odd to do so, as I can't seem to find uses for the new ones I've bought. I think they'll be that ultimate new EDC I'm looking for, but I keep going back to the Renegade. Maybe that Manix I'm looking for will quence my thirst? The D'Allara DP was kinda dissapointing (though, I've been giving it a chance lately as my EDC). And the Wayne Goddard I bought wasn't my style. The Blackhawk is a smaller version of my Renegade, which drew me to it like a skeeter to a blue light, but I find it is alsmost too small... I bet the Backhawk will be my new sheeple friendly knife, when I feel like conforming to the sheeple. Anyway, please help me with my addiction!!!!

when you`re low on cash , the byrd knives make a great fix (although you`d eventually run out of byrds to buy) the byrds are great knives , and due to their low cost you can beat them up with out feeling guilty

Yup - they are kinda addicting. I think I'm at about 20'ish plus a couple of Byrds. Waiting for the G-10 and FRN ones to come available here. Want to touch and feel first. Been pondering a Millie for a while now......:) Ka-Bar/Dozier D2 Black Thorn intercepted me on the last pass:D

Of all the Spydies out there, and there are a lot, I am really only interested in the G-10 handle knives that are manufactured in Golden, CO. The Military, UKPK, and Mini-Manix are currently in my collection and I have my eye on the Para, the Chinook II, and possibly a Dodo. Some of their lower priced knives that are made overseas are nice and everybody raves about them but they are just not my cup of tea. I am not a fan of the FRN handle material, feels cheap, JMHO, this is also what keeps me from having a BM Grip in my collection. I am on a made in the USA kick as of late, regardless of which company I am buying from.

i like american made knives (obviously) but i love the byrds as well . spyderco`s byrd line would be the only made in china knife i would buy

WooHoo, got my Mini-Manix in the mail yesterday and this is yet another great knife from Spyderco. My only complaint about the knife is that the blade is off centered when closed. It's not that bad but I am picky about little things like this when it comes to new knives. Other than that the fit and finish on this knife at second to none. The handle is the perfect size for regular and reverse grip. The blade is OMG sharp right out of the box, I do so love s30v. Now on to my next purchase, a flat grind Chinook II.

Earlier, you mentioned being on a US made kick right now. I love most things made in the USA, but I've been a fan of the Seki-City spydies for quite some time. I've heard people on this and SF complain of issues with QC from the Golden plant. I like my Japanese Steel... :)

Of the three Spydercos that I currently have, all made in Golden CO., this is the only one with an issue. The blade centering is not that bad a problem, it doesn't rub or anything like that.

Not that I wouldn't own a US made Spydie... I've used the Native at work for my vest-knife. It's been useful, dependable, and spot-on sharp. However, I just have a preference for the Japanese models. It's perefence maybe, and QC is subjective, I suppose. Well, I'll let you know how I like my US made Manix, which should arrive Tuesday :). It's my 2nd US made Spydie.
