Spyderco's Ebony Ceramic Coating

I just check Spyderco's website and it says that the Spyder Temperance and the Fred Perrin Fixed Blade are both available with an ebony ceramic coating.

Anyone know what this is? Sound a little like Boron Carbide or Tec 12, maybe?

I have no idea... I'm not a fixed blade person. Try the Spyderco Forum though and Sal will probably tell you himself.
