Who here has sent their serrated spyderco in to spyderco for a resharpening? How dull was it when you sent it in (approx) and did it come back as sharp as when you first bought it? Im asking this because a friend of mine has a serrated spyderco and i just love the sharpness. but the thing is ... there really is no good way for a average joe.... that does not own a company to sharpen serrations back to factory sharpness. (yes i do own a sharpmaker, i can get awsome results with plain edge but the serrated sharpener *white corners of the stone* dont work all that great.. let alone better than factory sharpness*

While you wait for the answer to your question use the sort of brownish grey medium grit rods on your sharpmaker. The white rods are to finish an edge. The medium rods do the real work.

A few years ago, I had a 10-15 year old serrated worker, used daily, and sharpened until I could no longer do so myself effectively.

I sent it to spyderco & the returned it to me as if it was brand new, they reconditioned the blade & handle & put a razor sharp edge back on it.

The blade was completely reground & was a little shorter due to the regrind, but well worth the 5 bucks I sent for the return shipping.

The fee may have gone up, but you won't regret it.

I have a spyderco rescue on the way. The blue ones with the one inch of plain edge near the tip... but now that i know they do a good job (who knows how they do it... cause nobody else can) I won't be afraid to use the heck out of it. I like to tie knots so the SE will prolly see its fair share.

thanks

They sharpen it to when it was brand new "sharp". They do an excellent job. I wish I could get it that sharp with my Sharpmaker!! :)
Send it it!
