Hey guys and gals, I ran into a guy that worked at a knife shop today and he told me that no spyderco's are made in golden Colorado.... I told him he was wrong but he said that he knew people at spyderco... am I just super wrong or can you buy spidies from Golden USA Earth?

The Native, the Military and Para Military, the Manix 2, Chinook, Leaf Storm, the UK Pen knife...all these are made in Golden.

Typical gun/knife/etc. store guru-commando. I try to make sure I know where the exit is when I see people like that, and I disengage from conversation with them as fast as possible. :barf:

Not a low blow or anything but there were the Natives marked Golden Colorado that were made by Camllius and the Bob Terzuola made by Benchmade.

Hi Deerhunterp,

We have a fair amount of equipment (laser, CNC mills, bevel grinders, etc) and knifemakers that are making those knives made in our Golden facility each day.

He probably believes what he told you. He's just incorrect.

Hi U812,

We hadn't set up our factory in Golden yet, when those models were made.

Not a shot Sal,just saying you can't always be sure that the knife is made in the city listed. It may be made in the US and the city listed being company headquarters.

That's very true............................In many industries.

We do have our own facility in Golden. And we also make knives in other countries. We also ship materials to many countries. It's always a decision as to "what country"?

Our Japanese and Italian makers use USA made G-10 and clip hardware. Our Taiwan maker uses USA made steel and clip hardware. We use the country of asasembly as the "Country of origin". We also list COO for every model we make on our site and in our catalog. All of our Japanese made models are made in Seki-City, for which most of our Japanese knives are listed. WE also have makers in Japan that just want to list "Japan" for the local political reasons.

The world is getting smaller and flatter. Origin is getting more and more complicated.

I understand that A.G. has a new knife with Japanese ZDP189 blade, Taiwan made Titanium and it's assembled in the USA. Should be a hellova nice piece taking the best where available.
