Spydercos Gone

The other day my car was broken into and I lost nine Spydercos (among other knives). The police said it looks like somebody pried the car door open from the top with a screwdriver. The knives lost are listed below, and I've asked a few local pawn shops to keep an eye out for them. I'm not really expecting anything to happen; just relieving some stress.
Waved Endura 4; Blue Dodo; Police 3; AUS-8 FRN Dragonfly; my wife's Pink Native; fully-serrated Cara Cara Rescue; Sage I; Assist (C79PSOR); and Manix 2. Most of them were new or barely used. Kind of reminds me of when my car was broken into a few years ago, and every single knife I owned was taken. I guess I just feel bad and needed to vent.

Thanks for listening...

Sorry to hear that. I hope you're able to recover at least a few of those knives and the culprit gets his due course.

I don't wish to be rude but why did you have so many knives in your car?

Sounds like you need a better safe than your car.

I just assume anything in a car is free game for someone to take. Hopefully it will never happen but if you assume that then you don't leave expensive things in it.

I usually only leave a crappy Cutco in the car, but I was making a quick trip to Wal-Mart after visiting my friend's house (to show him the knives) and they were in a toolbox in the back seat. I don't have a car alarm, but the doors were locked and the windows were up. I wasn't out of the car longer than ten minutes. Sucks.

I hope they catch the perp and nail him to the wall. It sucks that you cant keep things in your car without having to worry.

Good luck.

To pry open a car door from the top with a screw driver in less than 10 min in a parking lot to target a closed tool box sounds pretty desperate. Thief might have ended up with a couple more made in China screw drivers.

Put your good stuff in the trunk or under the seat in a mall parking lot.

just had the same thing happen to me - only lost one, but it was a very hard one to find - Ayoob. Was very tempted to take a shot as they were running down the street - the policeman that took the report said that that would not have been a good idea. Worst part was the loss of my briefcase with all my work in it.

That's too bad Nieporte. That's about $500 worth, no? Well, if you're living right, Karma will get the guy who stole that crap, and also you'll find that somehow, you'll get the money back one way or the other.

The guy who stole it is probably a tweaker looking for money for his next toke of meth. He's in hell already and his luck is going to get worse.

Good luck getting those back. I think that the theif is going to go right to the pawn shops, because his brain is too fried to realize the cops will be looking for him.

Question, do cops investigate petty theft like this, or do they just file a report with no follow up?

Sad to say short of the police busting the thief and finding them, I doubt you will ever see them again. The Dodo would be the one I'd hate losing the most. You have my sympathy.

First time, shame on you. Second time, shame on me.

Have we learned our lesson about keeping valuables in our cars this time?

There's some truth to that, but the second time he just made a quick stop.

Its not like he was storing knives in his car long term. How many times have you made a quick stop somewhere and left a valuable item in your car for a few mins? He didnt even leave them in plain sight!

It sucks that you cant leave something without having worry about scum taking it.
