Some of you in the know about the recent history of Spyderco mopdels - would you please share -

What are Spyderco knives current and out of production - sprint runs or more common that share the same relative size specs as the Delica.

I can make my own general comparisons otherwise but would like a place to start. Th size is the key.

The Delica is a near perfect discreet and easy carry folder that can be deployed easily with the spydie hole for an average size hand IMHO.

What might compare? I consider the Dragonfly and the Worker too small. I've owned them both (a Delica too). Looking for another Spyderco knife in that size.

Any comments. Thank so much.

caly 3, salt 1, native series, sage series, talisman, harpy, caly jr, pits, tenacious, ukpk

I will second the Native and Sage. I like the Sage more because it includes a thumb ramp and finger choil. The only knife I have that doesn't meet those two criteria is the Delica 4. With the inclusion of a choil it would make it near perfect to me

Hard to beat a Delica ZDP189 ~~ but a Native might work as I have carried a few in years past.!**

You found the Worker too small? They are very similar to the Delica, IMO...
Lil Matriarch also...

I found that I could not easily deploy the Worker - the hole was too small and the action too stiff - compared to the Delica. I sent it back. Just me - I have medium size hands but pretty thick digits :)

I just bought an original 75mm Persian (with the stainless bolsters) off the exchange. I think that will fit the bill. Will soon see :)

Ah I gotcha, yeah the Spyderhole itself is noticeably smaller on the Worker. As with most all lock-backs, the action gets smoother.

Sounds like you might be happy with a Sage then, even though they are considerably wider when folded and in pocket, compared to a Delica.
My new favorite mid-size is the Double bevel. Same size as Delica when folded and in pocket, but has a bit more blade length.

As far as older models go you can add the Hunter and its successor the Pro-Grip, the Standard, which was the forerunner of the Delica, and the Rookie, a 3" version of the Police.

I know it's slightly longer, but I'd consider the Caly 3.5.

The Caly 3.5 nearly carries like a Delica with more blade length. I think it is a very underrated model. Also the Sage 1 is one of my favorite small Spydercos.

This thread is becoming a personal STICKIE = Thanks all. Lots of info here. I especially like being referred to discontinued models - opens up all kinds of options and the fun of the quest

Don't overlook the Spyderco Byrd Cara Cara 2 or the Byrd Meadowlark2 for EDC

I really don't understand why the Byrd line has the finger choil (more ergonomic/useful design) where the Delica and Endura are lacking this very useful feature.

Yeah, for sure. I've owned a couple in the past, but never really gave them a chance before moving them on. I've been looking to get away from frame locks for a while and the Caly 3.5 seemed like a good place to start.

I feel you on the lock backs. Was to the point where nearly all my knives were but recently have moved some and dwindled it down. Love a lock back but Spyderco offers such great other options you can limit yourself to one
