Those that have used both with does s30v have a noticable difference in holding a razor edge through average use or is it negligible to ever consider choosing s30v over Magnacut?

Some halfast thoughts before the big guns with actual experience show up :
I have no Magnacut
I have tons of S30V.
I have had the good fortune of buying ALL of my S30V when they got good at heat treating it.
Some will call : desastrously chippy on S30V
None of my S30V has been the least bit chippy
I get really great edges on it that last for me.
Really decent "razor edge" for me that last well enough
Not as "razor edge" as ZDP-189 (which I love to death) but ZDP can be chipped if one does STUPID things with it. I chipped it once and learned my lesson for all time.

You may want to look at this web site / link ; page way down to STAINLESS STEELS.
Those tests show Magnacut is better at toughness but not edge retention by a small margin.

(sorry if this is a forbidden link; I believe it is not)
PS: the only reason I don't have any Magnacut is I live in the high planes dessert and have no use for stainless steel .

EDITED : to correct one of my stupid mistakes.

I can't tell a difference in fine edge holding honestly. S30v goes longer for me before it starts ripping and needs sharpening though. I wouldn't buy MC over s30v if all I cared about was edge holding and not in wet conditions.

Yeah I had an OG military in s30v that I actually really liked and noticed from those steel charts it appears like magnacut is slightly inferior in edge holding ability. Saw the magnacut military 2 released and had it in my cart and was trying to decide if I should go for it or wait for the next map sale and get a regular s30v military 2 which most likely adequately serves my needs. Since the salt military 2 is already sold out I guess I don't have to worry about that decision for a while now haha.

Very curios to see the answers of more experienced users I hold my horses for Magnacut steel on one of my last purchases because price difference, now im wondering if there is a difference in real life usage, I dont think the average Joe like me will notice but we are passionate so there has to be always a reason to buy more ...

I bought a Para 3 lightweight in MagnaCut when they first became available. I was more interested in it finally being a great instead of good at all the usual steel attributes. With it not having been in regular use for the same amount of years now the best I can say is I think it's better? I sharpen on diamond plates so I can't swear it's easier to sharpen since diamonds sharpen everything. I've never had S30V rust so I can't say it's better. And both of my Para 3's are in S45VN but at a bare minimum it seems on par. But that's only my limited experience so far.
