Spyderco's Next flipper

Something more along the lines of a slicer. A frame lock/liner lock Stretch like flipper in 20CP or 204P would be awesome. A Caly would be awesome with a flipper, and so would a Chokwe.

agreed :)

a nice flat grind flipper would be ideal.

The next flipper is gonna be either the Southard in a different color G10, or the Southard 2 :D

Been thinking alot about a smaller para2 recently, definitely interesting

Yea, I am sure its on Mr.Glesser and the rest of the spydie brain trusts minds. How about a Tenacious with a flipper with some S30V steel at a sweet price point?

Mr.Glesser, I am itching to buy a spydie flipper, as a spydie was my first knife 25 yrs ago, but at the 240$ price point I cant justify purchasing one. $175 range with 3.25 inch blade resembling the tenacious blade with some better steel would be a best seller!

Guys, the next flipper won't be a current model revamped with a flipper, it'll be a totally new design, and probably another collaboration because spyderco's in house designs tend to use their own design features, which a flipper is not. Who that collaboration will be with is anyone's guess. Did anyone see the Brad Southard collab coming before it was announced? I know I didn't, spyderco's designs and southard's designs don't really seem like a match, but boy am I glad sal and eric picked southard for their first flipper. Maybe another, smaller, more gentlemanly Southard design like they did with Gayle Bradley? Who knows what it'll be, but if it's anywhere near as good as the Southard, I'll be buying one.

Oh I know, I have one, and it's the best knife I've ever used, got in on the first batch of preorders a few weeks ago and had been watching the knife closely since last spring when it was announced. I meant I doubt anyone saw the collab with southard coming before the prototype was announced. If I had asked you 2 or 3 years ago who spyderco would collaborate with on their first flipper I bet you wouldn't have said Brad Southard.

I'd agree, and add that it will probably only happen if the Southard is selling well.

I agree with Deacon and MkJellgren. I also think we will probably see some of the flipper prototypes at Shot/OKCA/Blade this year. I know Eric has made a few in the past.

I hope they don't take the Southard's sales too much into consideration, unless they are planning on another $240 knife. I would like to see a flipper around $150. As much as I love my Southard, I would like to see a more traditional styled Spyderco with a flipper. So many of their knives would be awesome if they had flippers. Make it a liner lock with G10 (skip Ti) to keep cost down, have a normal sized spyder hole with full access on both sides, wire clip, 204P again, bearings aren't necessary, again to lower cost, internal stop (if it raises cost) is not necessary, and of course Spyderco quality. Taiwan made would be ideal as well, they did a really nice job on the time table when compared to other releases (green PM2 anyone).

it would be cool is they could somehow add a flipper to a bbl, dont know how they could though

Yeah, or the bolt action. Benchmade did a flipper with the axis, and Kershaw has the R.A.M. with the hawk lock. Not sure how similar the interferences are to the bbl, but it could maybe work.
